meeting jaehyun through your old friends

it was a warm sunday afternoon when the seo family decided to have barbecue in their backyard. the savory smell of galbi spreads around as seo appa took charge of it

"johnny!" seo eomma shouted from the kitchen as she washes the vegetables

"yeah!" the guy who was too much invested on his computer game answered

"invite your friends over! we made lots of food"

"sure thing!"

he wasted no time to send a message to their group chat

half an hour later, johnny sets the foldable table at the yard and then the food gets placed on it one by one until its full. disposable plates and cups are also placed as well as the different condiments

after quite some time, his friends entered their house as if its their own home

"oiiiii!"

"aaaaye johnny~!"

more weird greetings and hugs were exchanged between all 5 of them

doyoung, mark, jaehyun and ten. johnny's closest childhood best friends. they grew up together in a small town in the states since their parents are also close.

but jaehyun was kinda new, hejust moved in from another town, not far away from them, and started attending the uni same as the boys. that's where they all met and decided to recruit jaehyun in their group

"oh man i'm hungry" doyoung rubs his belly as he eyed the food

"start eating! here take your plates" seo eomma gave them each one of their plates and started eating

"wahhh the galbi tastes good!" ten compliments

"what can i say, i make the best galbi" seo appa said

"yah, i marinated it you just grilled it" seo eomma scoffed

the boys laughed at the bickering elders as they eat as if its their last meal

meanwhile in the other house beside them lives a lonely person. y/n.

you looked through your window, trying to find the source of noise and the faint smell of food. you gulped when you saw the seo family were having a feast

they would always invite you for dinner or lunch whenever your parents leave you alone for their work when you were younger. but as you grew older, they would still invite you but not as consistent as before anymore

the seo family is nice and generous, that's why you respect them a lot. but johnny has always been so loud especially when he's with his friends

you scanned through their menu, making your mouth water. they were having a chill time while having a conversation with each other

your eyes trailed towards the guy wearing a plain hoodie but the way he carries his monotone top makes him look very classy and manly at the same time

"who's that guy" you muttered nder your breath

the sound of the vibration of your phone cuts you off with your observation

of course, you rolled your eyes at the message

you decided to make yourself productive and to actually do something instead of locking yourself in your room watching studio ghibli films

"hey isn't that y/n?" mark said

"yeah i haven't seen her for ages" ten said as he also looks over from the fence

"she's gotten paler and skinnier from the last time i saw her" doyoung adds

"she hasn't been going out a lot. it's also been a long time since we talked" johnny said

"what are you doing? go invite her! her parents probably left her alone again!" seo eomma hits johnny's back, gaining a whine from him

"what was that for ow!" he rubs his back "besides, we're not that close any-"

johnny mentally face palmed when his mom beats him
