Shadowed Heroes (PJO story)

Connor has slow reflexes.

      "Well, I will leave you guys to leave you alone to discuss your mission," Alecto announced shadow traveling back to the Underworld.

      "Well a lot has happened in the last hour.," Clovis said saying what we were all thinking. "We are going to become superheroes. We're going to high school," he said gesturing to everyone except me. "He is..." I raise an eyebrow. "A genius?" He said like a question.

"I was certified a genius when I was 7. I have an eidetic memory." I replied in my best know it all voice. Don't ask me why, I just felt like it.

"Who else knows?" Kayla asked.

"No one else knows."

"Why haven't you told anyone?" Mitchel asked suspicious.

       "No one asked."

        "Really." Clarrise was getting more annoyed the more I talked.

"Look, I don't need people to pat me on the back for something I was born with." I stabbed a meatball, breaking the plate.

"Anger issues." Kayla and Connor both said at the same time, they look at each other bewildered.

"Hey, what did you guys get from your godly parents?" Clovis asked holding an old fashioned briefcase that looked like it had chemicals. I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for explosions.

Everyone looked at their gift. Connor got a shoes so did Travis. Clarrise got leather gloves and a matching leather jacket. Mitchel got a choker with a dove, I feel something radiating of it. Nyssa got a purse, which I'm assuming must be something like Leo's belt. And Kayla got a large beach purse like thing, which I'm assuming has medical things inside.

I got a leather jacket, once I put it on I turned invisible. At least I think so, I'm guessing from everyone's gasps and confused looks.

"Where did he go?" Travis asked looking around.

"Uhh... did he just disappear?" Mitchel asked no one. I put my hand in my pocket and found a letter.

Dear Niccoló,
This is like a version of my Helm of Darkness. It can change from a leather jacket to a blazer. To change them you need to push the button on the inside of your left pocket to turn the leather jacket into a blazer. To change the blazer into a leather jacket you need to pull the handkerchief. You can reappear by pressing down on the zipper for 5 seconds when it's in leather jacket form. To reappear when it's in blazer form just press the right cuff of the blazer.

I pressed the zipper and reappeared scaring the crap out of everyone.

"Woah. You have to tell us all your powers now!" Clovis yelled looking at me like he was trying to kill me.

"I will later, the jacket made me invisible." I muttered putting my letter into my pocket. Everyone was done eating so the ghost servants started cleaning the table.

     "Woah." Nyssa said jumping back from them. Clarrise has out a dagger.

"Relax, they are ghost servants from my father." I say inspecting the jacket. "Follow me." I say turning my heel.

"Where are we going and are zombies gonna do my laundry?" Connor asked still looking warily at the spirits while following me.

"We are going to the lab to test out our gifts." I say walking up to a bookcase. I put my shill ring in the indent of the wood. The bookcase moved and then we were standing in front of a elevator. I heard gasps behind me.

      After everyone got into the elevator we sat in awkward silence.

      "We really need to add some elevator music." Nyssa mumbled, her foot tapping the floor. Probably excited to see the lab.

    Once the elevator opened we entered The Lab. (Imagine the new lab from Lab Rats without the capsules)

   "Woah." Connor breathed.

"This has got to be the best quest ever." Nyssa stated.

"Totally." Travis agreed. "We get to be superheroes all though we have to go to school." He said the last bitterly. I grabbed a net bomb.

"Connor catch." I said throwing a new thing I made. It is a sort of bomb like thing. You press the button on top and throw it, then a net/rope sort of thing wraps around you.

"Huh?" He turned around and tried to catch it. Keyword: tried. It ended up hitting him in the chest and exploding, successfully tying him up. "What was that?" He groaned on the floor.

"That was a net-bomb." I said grabbing my pocket knife.

"Why did you throw it at me?" He said while I was cutting him out of it.

"Because I thought you would catch it." Everyone was stifling laughter.

"Ha-ha." Connor said dusting himself off. "What else you got here?" He asked looking around.

"Well I've been working on a few thing." I saw taking a prototype flash grenade that knocked anyone out within 10 feet.

"We should probably test out our new stuff." Clovis stated. Everyone mumbled in agreement.

Clovis put his bag on the table and pulled out some what looked to be every chemical to exist.

Clarrise our on her gloves not really knowing what to do now. "Try punching this" I pointed to a punching bag that could withstand almost anything.

When she punched it went flying across the room. "Woah." Everyone looked at her warily.

Connor and Travis put on their shoes. And like I thought went speeding into a wall. "Agh." They groaned. Kayla went to check on them. Using her new medical bag.

Mitchel has on his choker, he pulled the grey dove but nothing happened.

"Try screaming?" I suggested warily. When he was about to scream at me I quickly added. "Not at me!"

He screamed at a wall at a really high frequency, breaking the concrete.

"I think I'm deaf but that was cool!" Mitchell yelled putting his hands to his ears.

"Ya think?!" Everyone yelled in unison. Once our hearing came back.

"I think we need to make a few modifications to that." I stated.

"No kidding." Mitchel scoffed looking at the choker he just took off.

"Well we've all used our gifts, that just leaves Nico's." Nyssa announced making everyone look at me.

I pressed the button in my pocket for 5 seconds and the leather jacket turned into a black blazer. I then pressed my right cuff and I turned invisible or at least I assume so from the gasps I got.

"Did he just turn invisible?" Clarrise asked looking around. I pressed down on the left button to reappear.

"Yeah, it looks like it." I said pulling the handkerchief turning the blazer into a leather jacket.
