I woke up and turned my radio onto 107.5 WGCI. They was playing some Lil' Jon & The Eastside Boyz on the radio. I had a lot on my mind, I pondered in my thoughts. I checked my phone, i seen where i didn't have any missed calls from anyone which was cool, i seen where me and DaQuan exchanged text messages last night. Once i got myself situated and together i left my house on the corner of South Union Avenue & West 69th street. In my 4 door 2005 Toyota Camry. I didn't know where to go, i just drove and drove, listening to music. I decided to go to the local food market on the corner of South Lowe Avenue & West 63rd. I went into the store and got some food. I had a lot on my mind though. After about 20 minutes of shopping i went to the check out line.
"Alright that'll be $65.20¢." The cashier told me as he rang up the last of the items. "Sir, $65.20¢ is your total." He said again.
"Oh my bad, i heard you, i was deep in thought about something, my fault." I told him as i gave him 3 crisp twenty dollar bills, one five dollar bill and twenty cents.
"It's all good sir." He had began taking the items he already bagged and put them into the cart. "You must have a lot on your mind sir."
"Yeah, and don't call me sir." I told him. "Just call me Ro." I told him.
"Ooh is that like a nickname or something?" He asked.
"Yeah, something like that." I told him, i noticed his accent. "With that accent i can tell you not from around here are you?"
"No sir, i mean Ro. I'm from Detroit." He told me. "Alright there you go, all your bags are in the basket, I have to get back to work. You Have a good day."
"Aight Bet, i'm sure i'll see you around." I said as I left the store.
I walked over to my car with the cart of food I really didn't need. I just needed to get my mind off of things. My life's been in a tailspin as of late. Nine days ago, things changed for me, ever since I 1st seen Rook.
{Flashback}
"Where are we, where the fuck am i?"
"Your new permanent home." I walked him down to where Lake Michigan was and took his blindfold off, he turned around and looked right down at the barrel of my gun. "Say Goodnight!" I said before I pulled the trigger. He closed his eyes as the gun went off, thing was it just clicked, I emptied the chamber before we had gotten there." Ha you was scared wasn't you?" I laughed.
"You sick fuck, just shoot me and get it over with.
"Now where's the fun in that?"
"Fuck you!"
"Get back in the car before i change my mind and really bust a cap in your ass." I told him, he looked at me hesitant, then he got back in the car and i got back in the car.
"Look nigga what do you want from me?"
"I want you to live!" I said as I continued driving north.
"Nigga what?"
"Look i ain't as heartless as you think i am, i've robbed, beaten up and roughed up some people but i have never killed anyone and i'm not about to start now just because Maurice told me to." I told him.
I drove over to where Wrigley Field was, which was another twenty minute drive. I sat there and left the car running.
"I got to let you out here." I Told him. "Like i said i'm not completely heartless, what went down between us before was business but this, this was personal man, this stay between us." I told him as I pulled out $500 out my pocket. "Now look whatever you do with this money is on you but I suggest you move on and get away from this. This is a rare time, and I mean a rare time that i'm going to do something good in life and if it means saving a life then i'm going to do it". I told him.
