As Jazz and Gerard land in the open space just east in the outskirts of the town and transform back into humans. Gerard puts out his arm, "Let's get going."
"As you wish, Gerard." Lead me and show me Gerard. Jazz holds his biceps and walks next to him towards the field and the podium where the king and the four other clan leaders that make up the Council of Dragons are waiting.
As Jazz and Gerard get closer, the people in the audience bow towards her. One of them in particular though keeps his eyes right on the princess with his piercing black eyes. Jazz's heart thumps. Don't betray me now heart. A lump grows in her throat.
Gerard notices the young man. "Ryan, hows your training as a swordsman going for you?"
Ryan's eyes stay on Jazz for a few moments longer. Jazz's body starts warming up again despite the cool wind on her skin. Looking back at Gerard, Jazz feels a momentary sadness. Then she shakes it off, looks at Gerard, and smiles. Her man.
"The training is going well. I've been picking up some speed. My new blade I forged is a bit deadlier now."
Jazz looks towards Ryan. "You be careful with where you poke your sword." Ryan looks at her smiling. Gerard does too, but he frowns at her.
Ryan speaks up. "Come to my sparring session tomorrow and I'll show you. Perhaps I can help you with becoming a better swordswoman yourself."
Jazz feigns a smile. "I might. Of course it will depend on if Gerard and I can make it after we go flying away again tonight like we did last night." Gerard perks up a smile. Ryan's smile lessens a bit.
"Of course, my princess." He bows again and steps aside, so she can walk towards the podium. But he still doesn't avert his eyes. The lump in Jazz's throat returns.
