The rise of a new problem
I don't know what to think while looking at the Queen, who's still unconscious. She had been unconscious for 8 hours now.
The royal guards are trying to find Adi because we can't contact her. It's easy if we just track her down but her phone's off.
Mom is doing all the things that are needed to be done. The issue about Adelaide is a big one. She's the first royal to break one of the major rules of this palace. We royals are not allowed to go to any bar or anywhere where our image can get broken.
"You should sleep. We'll take care of the things here, Sofia." Kat said.
"I can't. I'll wait for mom." I told her.
"Your choice." She shrugged her shoulders.
"I can't believe Adelaide will do that." Selena said.
"You know her." Viana said.
"What are you talking about?" I asked them.
"She's not what you think she is, Sof." Linnea said.
"Stop it. If the Queen wakes up, all of you are going to get some scolding." Kat said.
My cousins and I are the one who's looking out for grandma until our parents get here. They're dealing with some stuffs that was caused by Adi's issue.
We all looked at the door when someone knocked.
"You all should go sleep. We'll take care of the Queen." Aunt Caprisha, Luna's mother said.
We didn't argue with her and just went outside. When we got out, our maids are already waiting for us. We bid goodbyes to each other before going to out rooms.
We all live in the palace but our rooms are far away from each other.
I went inside my room and took a shower. I did my night time routine before turning on my diffuser and laying in my bed.
I texted Adi first before sleeping.
Sofia:
Take care. Hope to see you tomorrow.
I hit send and went to sleep.
The next morning, I woke up around 5:30. We usually eat breakfast at 6:30 to start our day early.
I took a bath and wore a light pink dress and brushed my hair. I wore a headband, a necklace, and my ring.
I looked at my phone first before going out of my room to check if Adi replied but she didn't. Maybe she's afraid of what will happen to her.
I went to the dining room. I didn't expect to see everyone here but we're kind of complete right now.
"Good morning." I greeted everyone before seating on my chair.
The Queen and King's chair are empty so I guess the Queen is still unconscious. I sighed.
"Sofia." My mom gave me a warning sign.
We ate silently. My mom had that face that no one wouldn't want to see. I know that she's mad because of what happened to the Queen.
"You still can't contact your daughter, Adiana?" My mom asked calmly.
She's just trying to be calm. I can see it, same with Aunt Aaliyah, Aunt Genova, and Aunt Ciara. Uncle Marcus and Uncle Grayson are also quiet. I know they're all mad at Adi for breaking the rule.
"She's not answering." Aunt Adiana said.
"Then do something." Aunt Aaliyah said.
"What can I do if she won't answer her phone?" Aunt Adiana asked them, obviously running out of patience.
"We can't wait for her until she comes back. We need to do something." Aunt Genova said.
"Don't do anything that will hurt my daughter, Genova." Uncle Marcus said.
"So she can hurt my daughter but I can't hurt her?" Aunt Genova asked sarcastically.
"Mom, stop." Viana said.
"Stop it. Mom won't like it if she found out about us, arguing infront of the food." Aunt Ciara said.
"Find Adelaide, Marcus. You wouldn't like it if I'm the one who finds her." Mom said and stood up to leave.
"You know I don't usually take sides, Marcus. But if Adelaide is still not home by today, I'll help Catherine find her and give her the punishment she deserves." Aunt Ciara said and stood up. Uncle Kayden followed her.
"They're right. The Queen wouldn't be in that place, if it weren't for your daughter, Marcus." Aunt Genova said and left. Uncle Emir followed her too.
"You have to find her before Catherine does, you know how she is when she's mad." Aunt Aaliyah said and went outside. Uncle Carter followed her too.
Silence filled the air after all of them left. The Queen's health is the most important thing in this house. So I understand why they are all acting like that.
I know it's Adi's fault but I can't seem to be mad at her. All of the people here don't like her. They treated her differently so I guess she just wants to have some fun.
"How about we help them find Adi?" I suggested.
They looked at me like I just said something so stvpid.
"You do realize that we don't like her, do you?" Selena asked me.
"But she's still our cousin." I reasoned out.
"Let's not do that. We wouldn't want to see your mom get mad, do we?" Katana said. The rest of them nodded. I looked at Luna and she just shook her head.
I want to help find her but I still don't have enough powers to find her. I'm still not fifteen
After finishing our food, we all went to our own classes. The school starts next month, a week before my birthday.
I was expecting to see my coach in the gym when I arrived but I couldn't find him anywhere. I waited for five minutes before deciding to not attend my class today. Mom said if the person I'm meeting doesn't show up five minutes after I arrive, I should leave. So I did.
I went back to my room and changed my clothes, I tied my hair into a ponytail before leaving my room again. I decided to visit grandma.
I knocked on the door first before comning inside. I saw Aunt Ciara seating on the sofa.
"Hi." I said.
"Hi. Com here." She told me and patted the space beside her.
"Is she still unconscious?" I asked her when I sat down.
"Yes, the doctor said that she's just stressed and needed more rest. There's nothing to worry about." She said and took a sip from her tea.
"That's good." I answered. I took the magazine from the table and opened it..
"Shouldn't you be in your class?" She asked me.
"My coach didn't show up after five minutes of being late." I told her. I saw her nod on my peripheral vision.
I fliped on the next page and saw something not good.
"Princess Summer has been caught together with the famous celebrity, Brennon Kalen Knezevic holding hands while exiting the movie theater." It says in the headline.
I decided to read the whole article and tried to not let Aunt Ciara see it. She must've noticed it so she looked at me.
"I've already read that." She said, chuckling a little.
I closed the magazine before turning towards her.
"Do you believe it?" I asked her.
"Kind of." She answered. I stared at her for a few seconds before returning my sight onto the magazine.
"By now, you must've noticed that your other cousins don'tlike her, do you?" She asked me.
"Yes. Mind telling me why?"
"You'll have to wait for the right time for that." She said and returned to reading the book she's been reading.
In the right time? When is that? Adi has always been so nice to me so I don't really know why my cousins doesn't like her.
I stayed there for an hour before going back to my room. I closed the door and went to my vanity table. I took off my necklace and put it in my drawer. I opened my next drawer and put on my necklace that has my name on it.
I was bout to close the drawer when I noticed something in there. It was an earring. It's a gold earring with a crown as a design.
Funny how the crown looks like the crown of my great great great great great, I don't know how many great grandmother.
I took it out and tried to find the other one. I can't find it but I did found another earring that's also gold but with a different design, which is a flower, it's a rose.
I also took it out and decided that it will be the partner for my other earring, the one with the crown.
I put the two earring beside each other and tried to get a picture of it before I noticed something. The earring with the rose looks like the missing piece of one of my necklaces.
I looked inside my drawer again and tried to find the necklace I'm talking about. Luckily, I found it. I put the earring on the rose shaped hole in the middle of the heart pendant of my necklace and it really fits!
I put the earring and the necklace on my drawer again and took the other ring with me. I went outiside and locked the door before I leave, I just feel like it's an important thing so I have to keep it safe.
I walked towards the museum. It was opened and there are some maids who are tidying up. I looked around until I found the portrait I was looking for.
Queen Falisha Caroline Elora Maxwell
I looked at her crown beside her portrait and my body suddenly felt cold. The crown that the royal family preserved for decades. I looked at the earring that I'm holding and my heart suddenly beated faster. I'm right. It really looked like the crown of the late Queen Caroline of the Kingdom of Petnaest.
I suddenly remembered my necklace, my mom said that it was passed down to every First Princess. If the late Queen Caroline became the Queen, that means that she also became the First Pirncess before becoming the Queen.
In the past, any member of the royal family is not allowed to give up their title. They have to die a royal.
"Sofia?" I almost jumped when I heard someone called my name.
"Are you okay? What are you doing here?" Luna asked.
"I-I'm just looking around." I told her. She just nodded at me.
"She's pretty, isn't she?" She asked while looking at the portrait of the late Queen Caroline.
"She is." I told her and looked at the portrait again.
Where did the earrings came from?
"Someday, you're also gonna be called, Queen Caroline." She told me. I looked at her until I realized what she said.
She's right. I am gonna be called like that someday.
"Let's go? It's 11am already. We have to get ready for lunch." She told me and looked at her wrist watch.
I followed her inside while still thinking where could the earrings came from. They're not in my drawer yesterday. I have to ask my mom about that.
The way to Luna's room from the museum will get pass my room.
"See you in lunch." She told me when we're already infront of my room.
"See you."
I opened the door and closed it again when I entered. I opened my drawer and took the other earring out. I opened the vault inside my room and put them there. The vault is made for us to keep important things in. And I feel that those earrings are important.
I made sure that the vault is closed before standing up and going inside my walk-in closet and changed clothes.
I picked a dress that has a long sleeves and a white 3-inch heels.
I went to the dining area and as I expected, it's just us, princesses. Our parents are not here and are no where to be found. I sat on my usual seat and pu the napkin on my lap.
"What's our plan?" I asked them.
"About what?" Katherine asked.
"About our family." I answered.
"None. The Queen will gain consciousness, they'll be good with each other again." Katherine said.
My other cousins doesn't seem to mind.
When it comes to Adi, they don't care even a bit. I know they have their reasons so I just let them. I'll find out anyways. In the right time.
"Adi!" I greeted her when she went inside.
"Are you okay?" I asked her when I noticed that she's acting a bit different.
"I'm fine." She gave me a small smile.
"Let's talk again later, okay? I want to rest for now." She told me and went upstairs to her room.
"Don't tell me that she's tired? She had fun! I wish we also had fun." Selena rolled her eyes. I didn't even notice her presence beside me.
"Stop it. She's still our family." I told her.
"Families don't betray each other, Sofia." She told me and left. I sighed.
It had been 3 days since the issue about her going to a bar made the whole Kingdom shock. The Queen already reagained her consciousness yesterday but the doctor said she shouldn't be stressed out or she might collapse again.
Mom had been in charge of the whole Kingdom since the King is taking care of the Queen.
Me and my cousins waited for dinner for us to know what will be Adi's punishment. I just wish that mom won't be that cruel to her.
When I arrived at the dining area, they are already seated down, except for mom and dad. The Queen and King are also nowhere to be found inside the palace because they went on a vacation in one of our vacation houses here in the Kingdom. They left a while ago.
We waited for mom and dad to seat down before putting all our napkins in laps and waited for her to say something.
I looked at Adi and she's obviously nervous and Aunt Adiana beside her is looking all gloomy.
"I won't beat around the bush anymore, Adelaide will be sent to the province of Storm, together with all of the princes. She won't focus on the throne anymore, instead she will focus on the bussinesses that her mother will give her." Mom said.
"What?" Aunt Adiana asked with a loud voice.
"You heard me. She will still be the Second Princess but will no longer focus on the things inside the royal family."
"That's not fair!" Aunt Adiana shouted. I was expecting Adi to stop her mom but she just sat there. It seems that she's also against what mom said.
"If she didn't go to a bar every night, she won't be sent to another place!" Mom also shouted. I can't believe they're arguing infront of the dining table.
"Are you sure that she went to that bar every night, Catherine?" Uncle Marcus asked.
"Yes." Mom said, calm now.
"You have no proof! How can you be so sure?" Aunt Adiana asked.
"Don't shout at me! Know your place!" Mom stood up and shouted. She's obviously trying to calm down.
Dad tried to calm her down but failed. Mom won't listen to him anyway.
"Catherine!" Uncle Marcus said. I looked around and my cousins also stoped eating and just listened. Mom's siblings looked like they want to stop them but they know how mom is when she's angry.
Aunt Adiana stood up and walked towards my mom. I thought that she's just going to talkt o her but what she did next shocked me, us. She slaped my mom. It was so loud that it echoed in the dining area.
Good thing that maids are not allowed here if we're already eating.
When the shock left my body, I immediately stood up and walked towards mom.
"Are you okay, mom" I held her hand that's holding her cheeks that Aunt Adiana slapped.
"Adiana!" Aunt Genova, Aunt Aaliyah and Aunt Ciara shouted.
"How could you?!" Mom shouted and the next thing I knew she already slapped Aunt Adiana. Dad held her hands and pulled her towards him.
"My decision's final! Your good for nothing daughter will be sent to Storm! Whether you like it or not!" Mom shouted.
She was about too leave with dad when a hand gripped her arm. Adi spun her around and slapped her. The slap is so strong that my mom almost fell to the floor if it weren't for dad who's holding her.
I looked at Adi and tried to process what she did to my mom. How could she do that?!
"How could you?! Leave this palace immediately!" I shouted as loud as I can.
She tried to talk to me but my mind is already closed for her explanations. I have been nice to her ever since. All I ask in return is for her to not hurt any member of my family!
