Lunch time after that went incredibly awkward for the pair. And though Yashiro had tried her best to communicate with him-- Which is something she normally wouldn't do, Amane just kept inching away from her and said that he'd help her make friends in the most unsure tone she's ever heard from him.

The line he had drawn to everyone, the one she previously had the luxury to cross, was now strengthened, and she didn't have enough power or even will to cross. But even so, that didn't change the fact that he was scared for her safety, oddly, and offered to take her home, although it was clear that he didn't feel as comfortable as he once was with her.

Nene sighed, feeling all the progress she had been building with him being sent down the drain. She felt like clawing her eyes out, but that wouldn't do much good. It's been less than a week, there was still time for a change of heart.

"When the day comes..." Amane's voice whispered in the back of her mind.

Yashiro shivered, feeling something crawling in her back, and that icky feeling worsened as she glanced at Amane. Something about those words just screamed danger, and she knew... She knew what it meant. Whether she had enough time or not, she'll do her very best everyday.

Amane was taking her home after an awkward afternoon. Nene didn't have the strength or guts to peep a word, so she remained quiet. He was keeping his defenses up, and she quite worried.

Nene glanced at the distance between them. Usually, they'd walk so close that if she inched a bit closer, their shoulders would brush against each other. It always made Nene blush, and she would have to suffer through the rapid beating of her heart. Yet, it was also a sign of their progress, and looking at the gap between them was like her attempts amount to nothing.

She couldn't think of that. She had to keep being positive! If not for her sake, then for Amane's!

But it still hurt.

And while she was good at hiding, she couldn't dismiss the pain.

'One little question couldn't hurt, right?'

"A-Amane-kun?" She called out timidly.

Amane snapped back to reality, fixating his gaze on her, "Yeah?"

"Y-You seem to be.. a-avoiding me..." Nene stuttered out.

Amane tilted his head to this side innocently-- Though he was not in reality. "What do you mean?" He asks casually, trying hard not to make it obvious that he's been keeping his distance.

"D-Did I do something wrong?" Nene asked with glossy eyes.

Eyes as wide as saucers, Amane tried to explain himself, "I-It's not your fault, it's not your fault..." Amane's voice drifted off, as he laid his hands on her shoulders. Her face instantly turned into a tomato. "I-I just..." Amane breathed out a sigh.

"N-Nevermind, I shouldn't have asked." Nene waved her hands, displaying an understanding smile, "It's alright. I'm being nosy again. H-Haha." She chuckled nervously.

Nene gently removed his hold, trying so hard not to faint right then and there. She breathed a heavy sigh, clutched her bag tightly and continued walking.

Amane stood behind her, raking through his choppy, dark hair. Amane mumbled beneath his breath, but that thought was for him rather than for her, "I'm just scared you'll become someone close to me..."
