"I'll just walk around if I find something I like,I will buy it."I finally decided."Wow,Such a cute dog,Mom would love this."

My eyes rested on a cute fluffy white puppy.

"How much is this?"I asked pointing at the white haired fluffy male puppy that laid lazily in it's little cage.

A man in his late twenties looked at me."That's Brooklyn. It costs 200,000 Dollars."

"200,000 Dollars?" I screamed in shock for what I heard.

"I would have to sell my laptop to buy this." I pouted, sadly.

"Can I touch it?"I asked.

"Yeah, sure." he replied, opening the door of the cage.

"Thank you." I responded,as I cupped the little puppy in my hands.

"So cute."I exclaimed as I squished its cheeks. "Such a cute puppy."

I began to pay the fur of the puppy while I cupped it in my hands.

"Excuse me." The shop owner called out to me.

"Huh," I responded, resting my eyes on him.

"Your phone has been ringing for some minutes now." he said as he pointed to my bag that rested on the counter.

"Really,I'll have to put you down little one." I said to the puppy, tucking it into its little cage.

I got my bag and began to search for my phone. It was still ringing. I swiped the screen up so I could see who the caller was.It was my Mom.I swiped the screen to the right and put the phone on my ear.

"Hey,where have you been?"she asked.

"Oh,Mom,I stopped by at the market."

"Really?"she responded. "Then can you get some spinach for me."

"Oh yeah." I responded.

"Bye,I'll call you later. Come home quick okay." She informed me.

"Yeah,bye." I hung up.

I began to walk into the food market where various foods were allocated to their corners.

I  walked through the food market and headed straight over to the side allocated for vegetables.

"Hi,Do you have spinach?" I asked.

"Yeah, how many bundle do you want."

"1 bundle would do just fine." I informed her.

"Okay, that will be $20."she said,as she packed the spinach into a black nylon.

"Okay,thank you." I said,"here you go."

I called in a cab and entered the cab with the nylon containing the spinach and some other fruits twirled around my finger.

Few minutes later,we arrived in front of the compound and the cab driver parked the car while I   paid him and got off.

"Thank you." I said.

I strolled into the house, sliding the door behind me.

"You are back." Mom said, excitedly as she sighted me.

"Yeah,I just got back."

"So did you get what I requested for?" she asked me.

"Yeah,it's in here." I said,as I tossed the bag containing the veggies to her.

"Okay, thanks." she responded.

"Yeah,you are welcome." I said,smiling.

She turned to leave then stopped for a while and turned back to me.

"Huh,what?" I asked."do you have something to say?"

"Yeah,"she started,"someone called today. I think he said, his name is Chase or so."

"Chase called!" I exclaimed,wide-eyed. "so what did he say?"

"Well,It's not something important."

I pursed my lip and then frowned.   "Mom!!!"

"What is it?" she yelled back.

"You said, someone called and then you completely drafted away and started telling me this and that." I responded. "This is why I get mad at you infact I am leaving."

"You bitch, get back here."She responded, angrily."You aren't going to fight with me over a man."

"Mom, What are you talking about? I'm not fighting with you." I yelled back at her already frustrated by her actions. "All I did was ask a question and all you could do was to give me a straight answer and not tell me stupid things!"

"Yeah, right."she responded."You wanna know right. Your stupid boyfriend called and told me to inform you that he was coming for dinner."

"What?" I asked,with a raised eyebrow.

"You heard me right."

"Oh Mom please!" I yelled. "Not now. NOT NOW PLEASE."

I muttered. "Let me breathe please."

My mom was always like this,so cold, never understanding,so self-centered. Sometimes,I wondered what it would have been like if I was born from someone else and not Kenzie Scott.

Kenzie Scott was the full name of my Mom. It was a name she loved to be called whenever she was around her community of her friends. She preferred to be called her child-hood name than to be called Nina's Mom. According to her,It made her feel more youthful and graced.

I really couldn't understand my mom who had split personalities. Sometimes,I wondered if it was her who made me hate love or get scared of love.

Was what she showed me love.

Did she really love me.

Those words were the thoughts that crossed my mind whenever my mom acted like this.

Whatever happened minutes ago, wasn't supposed to blow out of proportion like this.

It's crazy when you are trying to be understanding but the other person doesn't even give you a chance to understand them.

I'm fucking sick of this.

I picked up my phone and scrolled through the contact list,I needed someone to talk to and I needed someone who would listen.

I dialled Greg's number as I hoped he would pick the call.

"Hey,babe. What's up"

I breathed. " Thanks Goodness."

"Are you okay." he asked, sounding really worried. "Your voice is all croaky"

I felt my lungs tighten as the tears tried to escape my eyes as my lips shook. I tried to talk but my throat hurt.

I tried to breathe as I struggled to find my voice.

"Nina." Greg's voice pierced through my ears. "You know what, stay right there,I am coming. Don't try to speak. I'm coming."

I croaked.
