You live in District 12. You have twins for siblings, One girl one boy, both are now old enough to be chosen for the Hunger Games. Your Mom died a few years ago and asked you to take care of the twins and your dad.
You and your family don't have much food but somehow you have always found enough food to keep them all alive and fairly healthy. Today is reaping day. You and the twins are getting cleaned up. Both of the twins are nervous about getting picked but you reassure them that it wont be them.
You and the rest of your district are all in the town square and are ignoring the speech. Your guide picks one tribute. You and the people around you sigh in relief because they have been spared for another year. Then next tribute is picked and everyone around you sighs in relief because they again are spared but you stay tensed up even though it was not you it was one of the twins and it was the one you could save.

*If you choose to volunteer as tribute to save your sibling go to chapter 4*
