I wake up in a place I don't recognize. The walls are a baby blue and there are pictures of memories on the wall I am facing. I turn to the other side and find a brown door and a big window. I lay on my back and try to process what happened. And then I remember, and silent tears start to fall.

I stare at the ceiling when a girl walks in carrying ice cream, chips, pop, and some movies.

"Oh. You're awake. How are you feeling?"

I just sit there staring blankly. I have no idea who this girl is.

"Oh sorry. My name is Penelope. I just moved here before school started. Sorry this is probably really weird. I just saw you run out of the school and you were crying and then you passed out and I didn't want to just leave you there. So I carried you here to my house. Are you okay?"

I tried to find the words to say and I was struggling.

"Uh thank you for being so nice to me. I uh I don't really know what to say. How did you carry me here all by yourself?" She was only a little taller than me and she couldn't have been able to carry my fatass.

"Oh it was nothing. You weigh almost nothing it was like carrying my little brother around."

"Oh." That's all I could say. She had to be lying. She had to of had someone help her.

"What time is it?" I ask.

"Umm, it's 3:40." She answers after looking at her phone.

"I'm so sorry to run out on you after you've been so nice but I need to go. I need to get my stuff at school and go home I'm so sorry to leave like this after you've helped me so much. Could I get your number? And then maybe sometime we can hang out? Have a girls night?"

"Oh yeah that's fine. But are you sure you're okay?" She asks raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah I'm fine. I promise. Here just put your number in and I'll text you when I get home."

I handed her my phone and she quickly typed in her number.

"Oh I'm Amy by the way. Thanks for all the help." I gave her a weak smile and she lead me to the front door. She explained how she lives just across from the school so I knew where to go.

I waved good bye and walked back to the school. Michael was sitting in his car since school had just got out and he was resting his head on his steering wheel. I tapped on his window and he jumped making me burst into laughter.

After he realized it was me I walked over to the other side of his car and sat in the passenger seat.

"Oh my gosh Amy. You're okay. Are you okay? You look okay. Are you okay?" He rambled.

"Yeah Mikey-poo I'm okay." I smiled at his urgent ness.

"You just ran out of the cafeteria and I didn't know where you went and I heard some of the girls and guys talking and saying they were surprised... Well I'd rather not tell you what they said but it wasn't nice and I figured that's why you were upset but I didn't know what to do. I thought you went home and I tried to call you during lunch and you didn't pick up. Where were you?"

"I ran outside and cried. I ended up passing out from crying so hard and a new girl, Penelope, saw me and apparently carried me to her house. She lives just across the street." I pointed in the direction of her house.

"I'm so sorry, Amy. I don't know why people are such asses to you. What did they say to you?"

"Well when I walked into school I was called a lot of things like slut, whore, freak, and fatass. And then during Spanish a guy threw a note at me and hit me in the face. I opened it and it said that it looked like I'd really packed on a few pounds and that it was probably from not playing softball and sitting on my fat ass all the time." The tears began to flow again.

"And how it's sad when the freak dates me out of pity." I slumped in my chair but continued through the sobs as Michael rubbed my back, "and then I went to throw the note away and on the way back to my seat a guy tripped me and someone whispered how they were surprised there wasn't an earthquake because I'm so fat. I told them to fuck off and the teacher sent me to the office. I sat in the office until second period and Maci pushed me off of the bench when I was getting dressed and made another earthquake joke. But I just ignored it all until at lunch the guy behind me said 'Fatty on a diet, don't try it' when I grabbed a salad." I finished.

"Amy I'm so sorry. It's not true none of it is true. You know that right?"

I shrugged. I believed most of it.

"I'm not dating you out of pity, Amy. I'm not. I fucking love you and I don't understand why they do this to you or why you don't see that what they say isn't true."

"What did you say?" I ask to reassure.

"I love you Amy. With all my heart."

"I love you too Michael. To the moon."

He hugs me from across the console and pulls out of the parking lot. Driving toward his house.

After Michael finally said I love you all the nasty things that were said to me seemed to melt away and I felt 100 times better. Knowing the person I love, loves me too.
