Monday: August 16

We were just getting back to school after our summer break and everyone was calming themselves down from their wild weekends. Grace had been quite distant ever since that night I had that nightmare again. I figured it was just family stuff and let her be, so we didn't really talk until I picked her up that morning and even that was awkward.

"So, how was your break?" I questioned her trying to make conversation.

"Good" She curtly responded.

"What did you do?"

"Nothing"

I took it as her not wanting to talk so I left it there until we arrived at school. We got out and walked to our lockers. I was starting to question things because Gracie wasn't acting like usual. Usually she would run around the car, jump on me excitedly, and hold my hand giggling while walking in together. That day, nothing, not even the hint of a smile on her face, just blankness. It really started to worry me, but I let her be and figured she'd tell me on her own.

I walked over to her smiling, "Hey Gracie babe," Then I kissed her cheek. She didn't really react, I was starting to get scared until she turned around and smiled at me.

"Hi babes," She kissed my cheek then pouted, "I'm sorry for acting weird lately I've just been thinking a lot. I sighed a breath of relief. Grace always gets in a mood when she overthinks, why didn't I think about that.

I grabbed her hand and kissed it. "I love you my sweet angel" I smiled up at her. I don't think she understood how happy I was to hear it was just her overthinking. We walked to class hand in hand, me smiling like an idiot.
