Cassidy's P.O.V
It all happened so fast. The chaos. The destruction. The decrease in human population. One day I was playing basketball with my younger brother Ryan, and my older brother Jayden. We heard a scream come from inside our house, there lied my mother. Lifeless. She had a chunk of her shoulder missing. There was also someone else laying next to her. It was a man with ripped clothing, and his skin was an awful green color. Jayden was behind me trying to comfort Ryan, but for me everything was a blur. I could slightly here Ryan crying in the background and my dad yelling for us. I just felt stuck in the moment, I felt paralyzed. Suddenly my vision went black and my mind went blank.

I soon regained my consciousness, and it turns out I'm now in the back of my dad's truck. My head was resting on Jayden's lap, I sat up and rubbed my eyes. As I sat up, reality kicked in. I had a mental breakdown. You could probably here my sobs from miles away. My mom was murdered.

"Cassidy, would ya quiet it down. Your going to attract them." Jayden said.
"Attract them? Wait, where are we going? Why are we driving?"

Jayden and dad exchanged looks that said 'who's gonna tell her' while Ryan stared out the truck window. There was a awkwardly unpeaceful silence. Finally dad decided to speak up.

"Cass, hunny. Your mom wasn't exactly murdered by someone, more like a something." He said quietly. "We've been listening to the radio for a while and as crazy as it seems, the zombie apocalypse has started. Your mother was bit, by now she's one of them." He said gesturing to a limping figure on the side of the road.

I just sat there with my eyes and mouth wide open. I wasn't sure how to react.

"We had to leave the house right away. Those things, or as the radio station calls them walkers, were in a massive herd and were about to invade. I had to load up quickly, now we have to find somewhere safe. I'm thinking Atlanta, but we'll find an abandoned house for tonight." Said dad.

I just slid down in the seat, wanting to sob. This is a lot to take in for a 10 year old girl. Everything was happening so fast. My mother was murdered by those walker things. We're going to have to survive by going from house to house. We're on our way to Atlanta. This was all happening in the blink of an eye.
