Draco reclined in his chair and stared at the apple in his hand. It was a brilliant green, not pale and sickly like the other batches.

He had never really liked apples. But since it was there, why waste?

Munchin into the delicious, sweet tartness of the apple was actually more relaxing than Draco thought. He closed his eyes and let his mind wander...

"I'm Draco Malfoy, I'm Draco, I'm on your side!" The Death Eater advanced on him, ignoring his cries. Suddenly, a jet of red light as the Death Eater was Stunned. A punch out from nowhere.

Draco awoke from his uneasy rest. The memory of the battle was still fresh in his mind, and it was one he would never forget. The Dark Lord was vanquished forever, and peace abounded. But the Malfoys were a broken, humbled family. Never again would they regain the status and power they held so long ago.

Lucius was a changed man. Draco had seen his father after the Battle become more distant as the power he had craved for was lost to him forever.

Narcissa was less affected. Her only wish was to see her darling son again, and it had been so.

However, Draco had been thinking. After the whole affair, some events had led him to wonder why he had ended up like this. He was now friendless and lonesome. Sure, there were his parents, but he felt that they were becoming a weight on him.

Maybe the Potter boy had the right idea after all. Maybe it were his parents who were not so correct. They had been switching sides and allegiances, being disloyal to everyone and loyal to themselves.

He shouldn't have been so naïve.

It was too late to make amends... Or was it?

Taking out some paper, he dipped his quill into the inkwell and began to write: Dear, Potter...

Then he stopped, tore up the paper and took out another one.

Dear Harry, he began..

END.
