Harry James Potter finally felt at peace. He was free of all worry from the horrors of war and Voldemort. Especially Voldemort.
Proposing to Ginny, he felt, was actually the hardest part after winning the War. She had said yes, of course, and both of them were finally a couple. Ron and Hermione had also happily tied the knot, settling down with Harry and Ginny at Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place. Harry had cleaned up the house, with Kreacher's help, and tried to make the place as homely as possible.
He still missed Sirius.
And Sirius was not the only one he missed. Remus, Tonks, Fred, Mad-Eye... all of them he held dear to his heart, and his one wish was that they could be here right now to witness the peace that they had worked so hard to achieve.
He missed especially his parents. Seeing them in the Forbidden Forest had only strengthened his yearning to be with them, but he knew it would not be for the best. Ginny was his comfort, and she could understand how he felt. That was how he had managed to get a hold of himself, and continue to pursue his career as an Auror.
Being an Auror was no easy task. Even though Harry had fast-tracked the process, he still found the job difficult. Luckily, he had Ron by his side as a partner, and suddenly things seemed much easier than before.
He still had one last thing to do. One last amend to make.
The grave of Severus Snape was his idea. He persuaded McGonagall to let Snape have a final resting place in the Hogwarts grounds. After all, it was, like Harry and Voldemort, the one place he found a home in.
Clutching a bouquet of flowers, Harry stopped by the grave marker. Tears formed around his eyes as he remembered the late Professor and Headmaster. Even though Snape had never liked him, he still did his best to protect him, for the sake of Lily.
Harry still felt that there was something worth remembering in Snape. He glanced at the words on the marker.
Beneath the dates of his birth and death, the words "Love is eternal... Always." were written.
"Thank you... Professor Snape," said Harry.
END.
