Kawaki was a survivor. He held Boruto back, risking death for everyone.
And yet, here Sumire was, defying the authorities and racing back to her starting point.
She had grown blind to the faces of people, and killed herself slowly. But he healed her, and the mask she wore crumbled, her eyes being able to see the stars.
Boruto...he didn't deserve this. This persona he was upholding...it was lies. He couldn't do this to their friends without a single flinch. It wasn't like him.
And so she pushed Kawaki to the ground, taking Boruto's hit.
She could feel her mouth flood with the familiar iron taste of blood, and her arms slowly wrapped themselves around Boruto's torso.
Cold, she thought.
She could see the way his expression cracked, his beautiful eyes becoming a horror filled story.
Like autumn leaves, the feelings he felt began to change. From grief to anger, and anger to resentment.
Hate was a strong word. But he hated her for being a hero.
She would laugh of course.
She did it for them.
He never suspected the kunai digging through his jacket, thus piercing his heart.
