Makayla

Mary shook me awake the next morning at eight.
"You father requests to see you in his study." She states and then hurries out of my room leaving me alone and confused. I quickly got up to get dressed knowing that my father would disapprove of my pajamas.
I tied my dark brown hair back into a high ponytail and slipped on a little sundress since the Miami heat would be appearing later on this afternoon.
I made my way to my fathers study to hear him on the phone.
"I don't care what it takes jim! He's only eighteen it shouldn't be so hard to bring him down!" My father shouted into the phone, once he saw me he mumbled a goodbye and set the iPhone down.
"Makayla sweetie come sit." He said motioning for me to sit in the chair across from him in front of his desk. "So as you know Austin has taken over the Mahone business since his father died years ago." I nodded remembering the funeral and crying because I was only four and Austin five and we didn't know what was actually going on.
"Well the stocks and..." My father drowned on and on about the business as I drifted off. "So Austin is now above us somehow and that's where you come in."
I snapped back to reality and nodded like I was paying attention all along.
"What do you need me to do?" I ask knowing that whatever my dad needed I was supposed to do for him no questions asked and with no hesitation.
"You are going to help bring him down. I have arranged for him to come to dinner with us tonight and I will propose a truce of sorts, which will be fake, offering you to be married to him. Austin will accept obviously and then you will learn all that you can, weaknesses, wants, desires, everything and you will report it all back to me. I want you to earn his trust, get into his accounts and take every last penny. We will bring the Mahone's down. We will win this." My father said vengefully and I gasped.
"Arranged marriage?" I asked sadly.
"Yes Makayla but it won't be real it's just to bring him down. I promise."
I nodded still slightly upset.
"I'll do it." I say.
"Good." He replied going back to his phone.
"Now if I may be excused." I state getting up.
"That is all. Be ready at five to go to dinner." He says as I leave the room. I can do this, it's just a business deal nothing more. I go to my room and change into a bathing suit and grab a towel. I was going to get a quick swim in before lunch.
"Lunch is ready. Would you like it to be served poolside today?" Mary asks breaking me from my thoughts of the marriage.
"That would be lovely thank you." I reply getting out of the pool and drying myself off. Seconds later two grilled cheeses and some fruit were laid out on the side table by the lounge chairs.
"Two?" I ask wondering why there was more than I eat when someone knocked on the wood beside the door to the patio.
"Alex?" I squeal running towards my best friend and embracing him into a hug.
"Miss me kaykay?" He chuckled.
"Of course I missed you. How was the hamptons?" I ask him as I lead him towards the chairs to sit with me.
"Fabulous darling I must bring you next trip." He states in a snooty British accent and I giggle.
Alex, Austin and I were the best of friends when we were younger. We were inseparable until the death of Austin's father. Austin was left with a huge corporation that he would have to run and once he was thirteen he realized that. He decided that he didn't need childhood friends anymore and left us behind while he hung out with the older rich kids.
"How are your parents?" I asked sheepishly knowing that, that was a touchy subject since he always had family issues.
"My dad had a new bimbo every night and my mom was drunk half the time so she didn't even notice." He shrugged it off and took a bite of his grilled cheese and I followed his example sinking my teeth into the crispy bread.
"How about you? How have you been?" He asks.
"You will never believe how crazy my dad has become. I'm supposed to be married to Austin as of diner tonight." I laugh and alex chuckles nervously.
"Austin? As in Mahone?" He asks rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah. It sucks. It's an arranged marriage for me to go in and take his money and find out his secrets so my dad can bring him down."
"Oh that sucks." He replies and then turns to his lunch finishing it off in silence as do I.

"Makayla it is three forty-five." Mary announces from the outside of the pool.
"Crap." I mutter. "Thanks Mary."
She nods and leaves the patio as I get out of the pool and dry off.
"It was nice to catch up with you Alex but I have to go get ready for dinner." I state wrapping myself in my towel as I watch my best friend pull himself out of the pool.
"You have to text me how it goes kaykay." He replies as he gives me a hug and kisses my cheek.
"Totes. All the details." I giggle my cheeks slightly colored from the gesture.
I say goodbye to Alex and make my way inside to take a shower and get ready. I didn't need Jessica today since it wasn't a big event and I could do my own makeup and hair.
I put my hair into a braid with pieces left out on the sides and a thin winged eyeliner with a generous amount of mascara.
I slipped on a white spaghetti strap crop top and a high waisted pink mid-thigh length flowy skirt. I slipped on some black Vera wang heels and made my way out the door exactly at five.

I sat next to my father at the table, both of us facing the doorway to see Austin come in.
Austin made his way I and sat directly across from me.
"Mahone." My dad nods.
"Ritchel's." He mimics my dad's actions.
"So I hear you have a deal for me?" Austin asks raising his eyebrows.
"Relax, relax Mahone let us eat first then well talk business." My dad chuckles and looks around the fancy restaurant. "Waiter?"
A young boy comes up to us, he easily was the same age as me maybe even Austin's age.
"How may I help you?" He asks smiling at me. "Ah mr. Ritchel your usual?"
I look at my dad confused. We didn't ever come here. He ignores me and nods his head yes to the boy.
"And for the lovely lady?" He looks at me.
"I'll have the lasagna." I smile back at him handing him my menu.
"Alright and for you sir?" He asks Austin who's staring at me intently.
"Oh uhm I'll have the same." He hands the waiter his menu and with one last charming smile towards me, he is gone.
"So now let's talk business." My father begins and I slouch down into my seat sadly.
