FAMILIES, LESSONS, MARRIAGE AND LETTERS

BY THE TIME DESSERT APPEARED ON THE TABLE Lizzie was already so full that she thought she might burst.

But upon seeing the dozens of pudding and ice cream, tarts and cakes and pies, she couldn't help but question if she really couldn't eat more.

Her decision was made once she spotted the banana cream pie.

Yes.

She could definitely stomach some more food.

With a delighted sigh she grabbed two pieces of banana cream pie, only to have one snatched right from her plate.

She gave a scandalized gasp as she watched Fred, she had been introduced to him and his twin by now, take a big bite out of her pie.

"How could you do this to me? My innocent pie! I thought we were friends."

She cried out in despair as George, who was sitting on Fred's left and opposite Harry snickered at her dramatics as she gave Fred an overly dramatic heartbroken look.

"I'm so sorry. I couldn't control the urge. Will you ever be able to forgive me?"
He fake-apologized with puppy eyes.

"Not now, not ever. Now you only exist in my memory."
She answered and dramatically stared into the distance.

"Great acting, really, now get me more banana cream pie."
Lizzie ordered him and he complied, grabbing another piece and handing it to her.

"That was a beautiful play."
George commented, wiping away fake tears. "What's it called?"

Lizzie and Fred exchanged a quick look before simultaneously answering.

"Banana cream die."

All three of them shared a laugh, before Lizzies attention was pulled to Harry next to her who was intently listening to Seamus and the others, all the whilst failing to actually eat the pudding on his spoon.

So Lizzie decided to help him and shoved the spoon into his mouth, making him choke, before he gulped down the pudding and glared at her as she smiled innocently and caressed his back as apology making him roll his eyes with a slight smile.

"I'm half and half. Me dad's a muggle. Mum didn't tell him she was a witch til after they were married. Bit of a nasty shock for him."

Seamus told the group of first years they were part of making them laugh.

"What about you, Neville?"
Ron turned to ask the Longbottom boy.

"Well, my gran brought me up and she's a witch," The brunette boy began. "but the family thought I was all muggle for ages. My great-uncle Algie kept trying to catch me off my guard and force some magic out of me-he pushed me off the end of Blackpool pier once, I nearly drowned-but nothing happened til I was eight. Great-uncle Algie came round for tea and he was hanging me out of an upstairs window by the ankles when my great-Auntie Enid offered him a meringue and he accidentally let go. But I bounced-all the way down the garden and into the road. They were all really pleased. Gran was crying, she was so happy. And you should have seen their faces when I got in here-they thought I might not be magic enough to come, you see. Great-uncle Algie was so pleased he bought me my toad."

Lizzie started laughing and the other first years were quick to join in.

"So when'd your family first see your magic, Elizabeth?"
A dark-skinned boy with curly brown hair and warm dark brown eyes who she believed was called Dorian asked her.
