Squinted blue eyes, clouded with confusion, gazed down at the small electronic device in her hands, the bright screen glowing up at her mockingly. Astrid could easily fathom how Finn had been struggling to understand how to use the device when herself and Rebekah had returned from shopping.
The device was a far cry from the candlestick phone Niklaus had owned in the twenties.
Astrid hadn't used the telephone that much, it had mainly been Nik who had used it when calling his business associates, and she had never really seen an opportunity fit to use the device.
Glancing up from the keyboard that appeared way too small for even her slim fingers, Astrid watched as Rebekah tried to help the blonde.
Rebekah's thumbs moved at a rapid pace, pressing the different letters before the screen changed.
Astrid jolted when the phone vibrated, her eyebrows raising when she saw something flash on the top of the screen. It looked like a ramble of numbers to her...
"Bekah, what was that?" Astrid wondered aloud as Rebekah chuckled.
Leaning over, blonde waves brushing against Astrid's arm, Rebekah pressed some buttons, clicking on the number. The screen changed revealed a message beneath the numbers. "Look, I've just texted you." Rebekah explained, pointing at the message underneath.
Astrid's eyes scanned the message in confusion. "There's an arrow then a number three- what is that supposed to mean?"
Rebekah chuckled. "It's a heart. See." Gently pulling the phone from Astrid's hands, Rebekah rotated the screen as Astrid finally realised that the symbol and number in fact did resemble a heart.
Letting out a hum, Astrid watched as Rebekah began doing something on the screen before she typed her name into the phone. "Here, I've saved my number."
Nodding, Astrid smiled before it ever so slightly faltered, the corners drooping. "I think I might take a break, just for a little bit. All this screen time is frying my brain." Astrid admitted as Rebekah nodded understandingly.
Placing a hand on her friend's shoulder, Rebekah's gaze was nothing but compassionate. After all, she could understand how Astrid was feeling.
She too had to learn how much had changed from the twenties, although it seemed Rebekah had picked up on things rather quickly.
As Rebekah excused herself to go and fetch a drink- a real drink; one that had big muscles and dreamy eyes, Astrid reclined back on the sofa.
Her head leaned back against the couch as her eyes fluttered closed.
The fashion had been the easiest part of catching up, although some of the clothes were a bit tighter and more revealing than she was used to. After all, there wasn't much thought needed in-regards-to putting on clothes.
