"Ahahaha! Man, that was fun! I needed this!" You laughed breathlessly, flopping down onto the bench. Todoroki chuckled, slipping his shoes back on.
"That was fun. You're right."
You smiled, wiping away the beading water that had formed on your lashes. "Thanks for swimming with me, Todoroki. Having a water fight with you was a lot better than going to some stupid beach."
"I never really found beaches entertaining. Once, when I was smaller, a seagull stole my icecream." Todoroki sighed as he began to remove his shirt, pulling the soaked material over his head. Your face flushed and your heart thumped as you gazed at his toned body, watching as water dripped down it.
"I-I always hated seagulls. They're...they're bad."
"Seagulls are the scum of this earth. Although my father is worse." Todoroki chuckled as he wrung out his shirt, oblivious to your staring. You laughed awkwardly, face heating up even more as your eyes subconsciously traveled all over his body. His eyes flickered up towards you and you quickly averted your gaze, pretending to stare at a tree.
"Dang, I just saw a squirrel. I think I missed it."
"Don't squirrels only come out during the day?"
"Owl! I meant owl!"
Todoroki laughed, eyes twinkling with amusement. "You're entertaining to be around, L/N. I enjoy the time we spend together."
"R-really?" You said, turning back to the two-toned boy with round eyes. He nodded, the corners of his lips turned up. You blushed and smiled happily, staring at the ground. "Gosh, thanks. M-me too, Todoroki."
Suddenly your phone buzzed, and you jumped, heart thumping with anxiety. You shakily took it out of your clothing pile, fear overtaking you. Did your parents catch on to what you had been doing? Was it someone calling for them to scold you? Todoroki sat down next to you as you turned it on and took in a sharp breath.
It was from an unknown number.
You gulped, pressing the accept call button and holding it up to your ear.
"H-hello?"
"Hi, I'm here to call about your student loans?"
You let out a breath of relief, hanging up the call quickly. Todoroki stared at you as you placed your phone back down, your body relaxing.
"Was it your parents?"
"No, thank goodness, it was only some person calling about student loans." You sighed, stretching your arms. "I would've passed out if it was my parents."
Todoroki hummed, staring out at the river. You closed your eyes, a faint smile on your face as you started to relax, when suddenly your eyes shot open again and you sat up, anxious once again.
"Crap! How am I gonna explain why I'm wet?!"
Todoroki's head turned to you as you panicked, eyeing the bathing suit on your body.
"Just take off your bathing suit and change back into your clothes."
You turned to him, face reddening.
"B-but I don't have...y'know...underwear on!"
Todoroki gulped and turned bright crimson, averting his eyes from you.
"That is...a problem."
You groaned, burying your head into your hands. "I'm so screwed. I'm royally fucked."
Todoroki's eyebrows shot up at your foul language, but he otherwise stayed silent, letting you panic. He opened his mouth after a while, face still a faint pink.
"Why not just change as you are? You can get your...underwear on when you get home."
You glanced at him, sighing morosely. "That's gonna be another problem. Where am I supposed to change? There's no public bathrooms around here."
Todoroki cleared his throat, once again avoiding eye contact with you. "You can...change behind a tree. I'll make sure no one is watching you, and I won't watch you while you're doing it."
You turned beet red, pursing your lips. "A-a-are you sure?"
"Yes. I swear on my life."
You smiled sheepishly, grabbing your pile of clothes and standing up. "Thanks, Todoroki. I don't know what I would do without you, seriously."
Todoroki blushed, clutching his chest and turning away as you went behind a tree. What was happening to him?
Why did you make his heart thump so much?
