WILHELMINA HATHAWAY or Mina as she likes to be called is a Dhampir guardian being the eldest child and daughter of infamous Moroi Ibrahim "Abe" Mazur and well-known Guardian Janine Hathaway. She is Rose Hathaway's older twin sister. They were raised at St. Vladimir's Academy after their mother sent them there for Dhampir training and schooling at a very young age. They met Vasilisa Dragomir when they were five, both Mina and Lissa grew closer than her and Rose, causing Rose to become jealous of her older sister that she became rebellious. Janine would often send messages to Mina, while Rose often got messages from their mother about how she was disappointed in her actions. Even through Rose had often been jealous of Mina she still loved her where they protect each other.
AT THE AGE OF FIFTEEN, she died in the same accident that killed the Dragomir family and her sister, leaving only Lissa, who saved the twins. They both became the first known shadow-kissed dhampir's since Anna. In the same year she, Rose and Lissa ran away from St. Vladimir's to save Lissa from an unknown threat. They spent two years on the run,stopping in Oregon for a while before they were brought back months later to St. Vladimir's by Guardian Belikov with a group of other Guardians
WHEN RETURNING to St. Vladimir's, Dimitri was assigned to teach Mina privately, to Rose's dismay as she wanted to be trained by him instead of Alberta. Over time Mina began to fall for her mentor, Dimitri and he in turn felt something for her as well but with their duty to protect Lissa, they try to put their feelings away. With a threat to the princess' life Mina and Rose must do everything to protect her, as the saying goes 'They come first'.
