Hello :>
The audio goes nicely with this chapter and it's where I got inspiration from.
Alina Baraz is a wonderful artist and you should listen to her sometime.Alright now to the book.
Margrets POV.
Its mine.
His eyes darted from each person in the room, from me and back to my supposed parents. But mostly on me.
"Go on" the old man next to me said.
Bryan seemed to be in shock, he was panicking. What so hard for him to explain? A bunch of questions rushed into my train of thoughts. Was he a bad person? Did he do this to me? Is he who Raquel says he is? Do I fear him? Do I trust him?
This was the first time I'd seen him like this. And it made me feel a bit relieved, I finally got to see a side of him that isn't put together or rigid. He's human just like me and right now he seemed to be in fear. When I was in that dark place, when I had iron being pressed on my body and I would scream so desperately, I screamed for help. But no one answered, I screamed for hope. But didn't come, not until he showed up. Wether he was a good person or not he needed help, his eyes were pleading; no screaming for help.
I knew the feeling.
I smiled at him and scooted my chair closer to his. He and my parents watched of course. It always amazed me how people reacted whenever I moved or let myself smile. Right now I was determined to help Bryan feel more at ease with his surroundings.
The same way one of the guards snuck real food in the middle of the night.
When I was done moving my chair close to him I sat in it and held his hand while using the other one to take a sip of orange juice.
My supposed parents started crying, it was somewhere in between tears of joy and tears of pain because they were smiling at me and I smiled back at them. That did the trick, Bryan's breathing had return to the slow and steady rhythm it had when he was sleeping this afternoon and with that I was satisfied.
"Lillian encouraged Rose to go on the tour with me and my best friend whom is now her fiancé."
"Oh Lillian I'm sure she's through the moon!, it's sad to learn this from you and not her" The old lady said while attempting to compose herself.
"She probably wanted us to focus more on rose darling don't stress about it" Her husband reassured.
Bryan's fingers began to draw circles in my palm.
He seemed to be in thought.
"Lillian and I are friends, but she wasn't fully aware of who I was and if she did she might heave had second thoughts as to wether she should have brought rose on the trip" He paused to see how they would react.
The old couple exchanged glances with each other.
I sipped my orange juice.
"Who are you? Aside from being the one who brought my daughter home I don't know who you are." The old man asked, his eyes focusing on Bryan's movements.
"I'm Bryan Gonzalez. CEO of my fathers family business, however my family is no stranger unlawful and illegal activities. Though we do not deal in such dangerous activities we are aware of it and sone of our non immediate relatives are involved." The room was silent. And I watched the lovely old couple in front of me. I remember thier facial expressions when I first saw them, happy and relived. Now the face of fear was very evident in thier expressions.
