Into the New World

Day 1 - [Part One]

Xiao Zhan hid behind a dumpster followed by Xu Kai as a few zombies or what they now called Walkers passed by. This has been the way Xiao Zhan and Xu Kai are both surviving. Since Xiao Zhan can't fight much, he survives by hiding or being protected by Xu Kai. It's been exactly a week now since the zombie apocalypse had begun. Many of his friends had been a victim to the walkers and maybe some of his family or relatives as well.

So Xiao Zhan promised to himself that he'll find a way to end all this madness. I mean, just a week ago, he was just a normal actor busy doing his work but now Xiao Zhan is basically just a normal person fighting for his life. Xu Kai's on the same boat as him. They both survived by sleeping up on trees when they're in the forest or by staying at one of the now empty houses but it's too risky since they might get surrounded by a mob of walkers. So far Xu Kai and Xiao Zhan had not yet seen another living being. The cities are now overrun by those walkers. Only a few small towns aren't full of walkers.

"Now what store should we raid? Since I need proper weapons even though I can't fight much and you need more than just a single metal bat and a machete. So let's head to the mall and get extra metal bat for you and for me." Xiao Zhan whispered as he began walking towards the mall, Xu Kai silently followed from behind looking at every direction just in case a walker suddenly appears. Over the week they've been going back and forth from their apartment to the mall to gather some supplies like canned foods, medicine, clothes, and of course weapons.

So far the only thing Xiao Zhan can use to defend himself is a small kitchen knife which he uses to stab the walkers directly in the head. But that only helps him when the walker is all alone, but when it comes to a horde then he's basically a dead meat. It's a good thing Xu Kai's great in fighting so Xiao Zhan doesn't need to worry much. After a few minutes of walking cautiously they finally reached the mall. Only a few walkers were seen in the area but that's not the bad thing.

Since it's only been a week since the zombie apocalypse, power was still working fine. As they neared the entrance, groans can already be heard from inside the mall. The door which opened automatically when a customer enters made a loud sound attracting a group of walkers from a nearby store. This made Xiao Zhan hide behind Xu Kai as he prepared himself to fight. Xu Kai being a little bit over protective of Xiao Zhan stood firmly, acting as Xiao Zhan's human shield.

He handed Xiao Zhan the metal bat as he held the machete tightly. When the walkers were almost near them, Xu Kai began working. Attacking one after the other, but he also left some to Xiao Zhan who swung the metal bat like a professional. After a few more hits the walkers are all dead. Xu Kai suddenly heard more groans from the distance so he hurriedly pulled Xiao Zhan to a store full of shoes for men. Xu Kai gestured for Xiao Zhan to stay quiet as a far more larger group of walkers passed by the store they were hiding.

"Take a few boots and put it in the bag you're carrying. We might need to change our style of clothing. Also do it as quiet as possible, we can't attract those walkers back here." Xiao Zhan nodded before getting to work. He found a few military boots and quickly put it inside his bag. He then snatch a few more duffle bags from the corner of the store and put two extra boots before going back to where Xu Kai was silently sitting.

"Now what? We can't go out with a horde possibly waiting for us outside. You know I can't fight well!" Xu Kai gave Xiao Zhan a blank look as he tried to make a plan. If they were to get out of the store through the entrance then the horde of walkers might sense them which will be bad. But if they go through the back of the store maybe they can escape without fighting much.

"Let's go to the back of the store and see if there's an exit." The two silently made their way to the back of the store making sure to not create any loud sound that'll attract the horde just a few blocks away from the store they were in. When they found the exit Xu Kai was about to open it when he suddenly heard groaning and hissing from the other side. Carefully he slowly opened the door and took a peak only to shut it quickly.

"No use. We still have to fight if we want to get out of here alive. There's ten walkers behind this door while at the front stood maybe 20 or more walkers. It's either we go through the entrance or here." Xiao Zhan didn't even think twice and just opened the exit door hitting a walker right in the face. With his metal bat in hand he began hitting the walkers in the head making sure to smash their brains. Xu Kai chuckled before following his friend.
Xu Kai and Xiao Zhan both fought their way out of the shoe store. When the coast was clear, they headed to the supermarket to get some canned goods and other foods that won't immediately go bad. Xiao Zhan was pushing a cart while Xu Kai followed him with the metal bat in hand. The two made there way through isle after isle taking whatever food that they can eat. As well as a few bottles of juice and water. Xiao Zhan even added a few packs of spaghetti and cans of sauce on the cart.

"Why add spaghetti? Also can you grab a few packets of candy for me will yah." Xiao Zhan rolled his eyes as he took a few packets of gum and other candies into the now half full cart. As they turned around into another isle Xiao Zhan stood frozen looking in front of him. Two walkers were feasting on a dead woman on the floor a few feet from them. Xu Kai immediately stood infront of Xiao Zhan and with slow and careful steps he advanced towards the two walkers and killed both in one swift move. While Xiao Zhan was left vulnerable as a walker pounced on him. Making him and the walker fall on the floor. Xiao Zhan grabbed a hold of the walkers' shoulder to keep it from biting his face off. Xu Kai quickly pushed the walker away and smashed it's head using the metal bat. After that they continued to grab whatever they can. They even found some canned spaghettie's but Xiao Zhan still kept the packs on uncooked one since it's better to cook your own spaghetti than eat in a can with already cook spaghetti.

"So now that we got everything let's quickly head to the pharmacy for a few medicine. I already grabbed lots of alcohol rub and some bandages if ever we get injured." Xiao Zhan followed Xu Kai and quickly went to the pharmacy where they took mostly the common and most needed medicine. After that they headed back to the apartment while pushing two carts full of foods, medicine, and weapons mostly metal bats, lots of boxes of nails and knives.
