chapter 11 part 1

Please try to ignore the fact that the story line may not add up but all you need to know that this takes place Ashley's first day of college just from Jamaal p.o.v.

Jamaal's p.o.v

Wait, pause, rewind, hold up. Everything I did I have a good ass reason for. People might see me as the bad guy for walking out on everybody but for you to understand we're gonna have to go back a couple of years.

-1 years ago- monday-

I take out my notebook and write down some brief thoughts. "yo Jamaal, get ready. i'm pretty sure you don't plan on staying in the house the whole day am i right?" my older brother Sean says walking into my room throwing my gun at me. I take my gun and put it in my bookbag and walk past him ignoring him.

"um okay?? so your really not going to college?" he asks nagging me. I open the refrigerator door and look for some orange juice. "why do i need too?" he walks up behind me and closes the door. " I just want the best for you."

"Why don't you worry about Sebastian more, what do you see him doing with his life?" I sit down at the kitchen table. "Bastian is a 23 year old man who makes his own decisions. You are 20. I just want you to start thinking about a different life outside of gang violence." he says, seeming caring. I roll my eyes a little.

I stand up and walk towards the door. " you sound like mom, give it up!" I walk outside and slam the door behind me. I run down the street not knowing where the hell I'm planning on going. just anywhere far away from that house is fine by me.

Please don't think I'm some brat that likes to break the rules or anything and that likes to...disappoint their brother, because that's far from the truth. and if wanting freedom and the ability to do whatever i want is a crime.. then that's the crime people need to be less worried about that i committed.

I put on my favorite black hoodie and put my hood up. I prefer for people to not see my face, you never know who's around the corner. I turn the corner and look around at my surroundings. i'm next to a big college (the college i would go to if i had any interest). I see this girl standing in front of it and I could have sworn I saw that girl before, but only I imagine her younger. I start walking over to her but I hear a gunshot. I'm guessing she heard it too because I turned around and saw her running inside. okay.. so i'm guessing that i won't be talking to her.

-time skip to later that day-

"Wow looks whos finally back." sebastian says in a sarcastic tone. "Wow look whos still up my ass." i roll my eyes and run to my room and lock the door. I cant wait till I'm out of here.

I close my eyes and lay back on the bed and just started thinking. I use to live in jersey when younger but ever since I moved to New York my life has gone downhill.  Not really in a negative way just got alittle boring.

In 1st grade I had a beautiful girlfriend but I dont really remember anything that happened. I bet we didnt even hug, ugh we were so immature.

5th grade came and I was big pimping. I laugh to myself just thinking about it. Middle school i was with the same girl up untill 9th grade cause then she moved and it kinda hurt but I bury my feelings deep down whenever I feel a strong emotion coming on like sadness or anger.

Highschool I didnt focus on girls I mostly stayed to myself and hanged outside of school with my brothers. When I graduated my brother Sean had the bright idea to move to New York something about new beginnings but me Sean and sebastian all know damn well he really wanted me to go to college.

-time skip to a month from then-

"Sebastian go get us some lunch." I heard Sean say to him. "Just make Jamaal do it cant you see I'm trying to sleep!"

I rolled my eyes and started to fake sleep. I hear my brother sigh and open my door. "Jamaal me and you both know yo ass anit sleep so get up and go get us some lunch."

I roll my eyes and got dress. I put on my black hoodie and grab my gun, you know just in case. "And what do my wonderful brothers want to eat today." I say in an ever so joyful tone. (Sikee!!).

"Aww you called us wonderful!!! Well since you asked so nicely I want a simple cheese burger at mc Donald's. Was that too hard for your little brain to comprehend. " sebastian says while patting my head. I could have swore he was "asleep". I roll my eyes and walk out the door.

I'll just get Sean that same thing.
