Chapter 4

Don't. Even. Try

You know that feeling you get when you know something bad is going to happen, but you're not sure when or how? Yeah, that's exactly what I am feeling right now.

I know we're going to get David along with everyone else. I know he hates me. Alright, hate might just be pulling it a little too far, but he doesn't like me either. I guess, strong dislike would be the right word. Yes, so he strongly dislikes me.

From what Lexi has told me, the front passenger seat was what David preferred the most. That was a gulp moment for me because I was currently seated in that very seat.

I looked down at my seat and back at her and repeated a few more times and then decided to give it a shrug. It's not like he would talk to me anyway. He'd just sit there and glare at me. 'I can handle a glare', I thought and then nodded to myself.

Lexi and I chatted until we got to wherever the boys were all huddled up. Turns out, we were both late and hence they had started walking to school. Lexi and I giggled as they grumbled and clambered into the car, fighting to get in before the other, all except David. Of course. He stood there glaring at me. I knew his glare was eerily scary, but I decided to ignore it for the time being. I turned away from him and waved at the boys who waved back, except for Alex who gave me a very awkward, his-arms-wrapped-around-my-neck hug to which I laughed.

Finally, David carried his oh so sophisticated self in the car and settled down all the while maintaining a steel glare at me which I could clearly see through the rear-view mirror. Again, I chose to ignore it and engaged in a conversation with the rest of the boys while Lexi and David had that creepy telepathic mind conversation again with their eyes.

A little later, Lexi got too mesmerized by Nate to care about her brother and he decided to sit back like a wax statue. If I didn't know he was actually a human, I'd think he were a wax statue indeed. He sat so still, he barely even moved around amidst the chaos that went on around him.

Being the new girl, I got some privileges. I got to choose the song that was to be played, I settles for The Rap Battle for some reason, I got to sit in the front passenger seat, and I also got to ignore David's glares. Ha! Doesn't get better than that, I suppose.

The ride to school was quite fun, if I were to be honest. I never thought I'd make acquaintances in the first day of school, but I did. I guess, your own self can surprise you sometimes. I looked at the people around me and saw them laughing and goofing around and felt like maybe this time, I did make friends.

I got out of the car, chuckling as Valentino held the door open for me. We all walked into the main building together. Loud laughs and busy chattering hit me as I stepped into the hall. Looking around I found a couple glances at us. Not being the one to work well under pressure, I started fidgeting as I walked down to my locker.

Peter must've noticed it for her came by to walk with me. "Morning, sunshine!" he said, spreading his arms and grinning down at me.

I laughed and said "Morning, Peter."

"Well, that's a letdown, isn't it?" He said, plastering an adorable pout on his face.

I tilted my head to one side and gave him a look that clearly said 'Explain more.'

"I gave you a booming morning! And you gave me a morning like tweety bird." He said, the pout still intact on his face.

"Do you want me to yell here right now, Peter?" I asked as we stopped at my locker.

"Now that you put it that way, yes." He said, grinning at me, all his 32 teeth on display.

"That's not happening. Sorry." I said as I spun my locker combination in and started switching my books.

"You break my heart, girl." He said as he dramatically clutched his heart and gave an overly exaggerated sigh.

"Drama?" I asked, smiling at him.

"Yeah." He replied, sheepishly scratching his head.

I chuckled and ruffled his hair which really is easier said than done for he's extremely tall. "You're good at it." I said and shut my locker.

"Why, thank you." He said and did an exaggerated bow with his arms spread wide which made me laugh.

He lifted his head up with a full blown grin adoring his face. I had to give this to him, he was really really cute.

"What class do you have first?" He asked, which he really did not need to because he snatched my planner from my hand and flipped through it all by himself. "Geometry then. Alright. Let me escort you to your class, ma'am." He said, taking my hand in his and pulling me through the crowded hallway.

"Won't you be late for your class?" I asked, dodging the person who was about to fall splat on me. When I said crowded, I meant it.

He turned his head around to face me and tried his hand at an evil grin which really just came off as creepy and nothing else.

"Watch where you're going, Peter." I said, trying to look out for him.

"People will watch me." He said, pointing his index towards himself the way Regina George would've done in Mean Girls. "It is all about being late, little Wendy, and moreover, we have the same class, so." He said and started turning his head away when he ran into a wall.

It was really painful to even have to witness him running into the wall but I couldn't help but burst out laughing. Before I could open my mouth to say what I wanted to say, which was the classic 'I told you so.' he held his index finger up and said "Don't. Even. Try." He let out a huff before straightening back up and pulling me along.

It was when he pulled me that I realized that literally everyone was standing frozen and they resumed only after he walked past them.

These people just never failed to fascinate me. We finally got to our class room and Peter flung and held the door open till I entered. Everyone froze again and stared at him. Either he didn't notice them staring or he did but didn't bother enough to acknowledge their stare. He found himself a seat at the back of the class and motioned for me to sit in front of him. I placed my books down and sat down myself.

Not very later, the teacher entered but it wasn't the one I was expecting to see. I knew my memory was bad but I knew for sure that this wasn't the teacher from yesterday.

Someone from the other end of the class stood up and threw their arms up yelling "SUBSTITUTE!!" at the top of their lungs. Peter chuckled and got out of his seat. He walked to the teacher and stopped to turn around and give me a wink and a smile that clearly said 'Just watch.'

***********************

Wendy : You just love doing this, don't you?

Me : Yes, I do. Why wouldn't I?

Wendy : Did you ever think about me?

Me : I always think about you. You're me when I write. What else do you want from me, woman?

Wendy : Wait, why am I you?

Me : *sighs* Figure it out yourself.

Wendy : FINE!

Me : Good luck!

So, yup, that is it for now. I'm so sorry about the delay. I hope that doesn't happen again.

Bye bye!

Hugs and skittles.
