We need to talk

Red was standing in front of the small house of Sans and Papyrus. He received earlier a text from Sans, saying that he wouldn't be available today. Good. It meant that Red had the whole day for himself, and he intended to solve one or two problem of his. A small voice in the back of his mind had told him it wasn't a good idea, but he told the voice to shut up and to go somwhere where he wasn't. Red wasn't in a good mood. At all. His brother had avoided him this morning upon seeing how his brother was, and it just fueled Red's anger. To whom? His brother? Himself? His Underground? Sans? He didn't know. But now, there was someone he could pass his nerves on. He rang once, then a second time two seconds later, then he knocked loudly. If he pissed the other, it would makes things easier and he would feel less guilty the next day. He pounded at the door and rang simultaneously for three minutes - the other knew he was already pissed or what ?- until he heard loud stomping and someone grumbling lowly. Ah, he got his attention. And Red's plan seemed to be a success too. That almost put him in a good mood. Almost. The door was opened violently, showing a pissed skeleton.

"THIS IS VERY RUDE TO KNOCK AND RING THE WAY YOU DID FOR SUCH A LONG TIME, YOU KNOW ? I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE YOU WERE MORE POLITE THAN YOUR BOTHER, BUT IT SEEEMS THAT I WAS WRONG..." "Shut up, would ya? I have no lessons to receive from someone like ya." Red entered in the house without being invited in the first place. Papyrus stared, not liking this attitude one bit. He closed the door behind them. Red was already on the couch, not caring about what Papyrus might say. Papyrus was standing there, not believing what he saw. "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ? AND WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE RIGHT NOW?" "Name's Red. And I'm at Sans'and his asshole of a brother's house." Papyrus flinched when hearing this, crossing his arms. "IF YOU'RE HERE TO SEE MY BROTHER, YOU'RE AT THE WRONG PLACE." "I know. I'm here for ya." Red said dryly to Papyrus, who was looking at him ,curious. "ME? WHY?" "To ask ya what the hell was wrong with ya." "...WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?" He was wringing his hands nervously, not looking at Red. Bad decision. "Are ya fucking kidding me?! Ya don't know what I'm talking about?! Oh, I'm so sorry! Then maybe I should be way more specific!!" Red jumped from the couch, a snarl on his face. He stomped toward Papyrus, who stood his ground, trembling a little, yet not backing away. Huh. Kid was brave, he could give him that. "I'm talking about yer shitty attitude toward yer brother!" He pressed his finger on Papyrus' sternum, anger written all over his face.

"...WH...WHAT?" "Oh, as if ya didn't know! The way ya talked ta him, about him when my bro and I were here! The way ya would demean him in front of us! And don't tell me ya didn't see it! Ya saw how it affected him!" "YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE WAY I TREAT HIM!" "Oh, but I know enough! Ya're ready to look down on him and be mean ta him just to make yerself appear way better than him, and way better than who ya really are!" Red shouted at him, anger swirling around him. Was he that oblivious? Had he not saw the way Sans' look would falter, the way his smile would strain itself, how heclenched his hands. Was he oblivious? Or did  he know exactly what he was doing and he just didn't care about it? Papyrus pushed Red back, but his confidence seemed to waver a bit. "IT'S NOT MY FAULT IF IT'S TRUE! AND HE NEVER ARGUES BACK: HE DOESN'T DISAGREE WITH WHAT I SAY!" "Because ya're his brother! He would never humiliates ya or contradict ya in public! Apparently, ya don't show as much restrain as he does!" "STOP THAT! HE DESERVED THAT! HE IS ALWAYS LAZY, IRRESPONSIBLE, AND HE DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING! SOMEONE NEEDS TO SHOW HIM WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM!!" "And for ya, it means making Sans sink deeper into depression?!" There was a pause, the silence getting more and more uneasy with the passing seconds. Red was still shaking from his anger, but also desperation. Was Papyrus serious there? "...SANS IN DEPRESSION? DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH! IT'S...IT'S JUST... A WAY TO ATTRACT ATTENTION! THAT'S-" *SLAP!*

The silence was followed Red's gesture was defeaning. He had lost control of himself, and had gone violent again. But...It had been too much for him ta handle. Sans' brother was a real jerk. No wonder Sans' self-esteem was so low. With such a monster as brother... Papyrus had a hand on his cheekbone, looking startled, hurt and scared. Red didn't take  his HPs, but still... That did sting a little. "Poor Sans... I really do feel sorry for him... To have such a brother who doesn't give a damn about him..." Red walked away, opening the door and stopping at the entrance, looking back at Papyrus. "And to think that yer brother always defend ya, no matter what...Ya really don't deserve him." And with that, Red slammed the door, leaving a very confused Papyrus behind him.

2 hours later...

Red was tapping his foot on the ground, his teeth gritted and a frown on his face.  Edge was looking at him from the kitchen, before sighing and going over to see what was wrong with his brother. "WHAT HAPPENED?" "I slapped Papyrus." "...YOU DID WHAT?" "It's his fault!! You should have seen him, how he was talking about Sans, his own brother, someone who had always been there for him!!" Edge pinched his nasal bone, annoyed. But he didn't say anything about it. He knew his brother was in a foul mood. "I don't know how you could even stand him!" "...HE HASN'T ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THAT..." Red looked up, intrigued. His brother had sounded...sad? "Really?" "YES. THERE WAS A TIME WHERE HE WAS KIND-HEARTED... GENTLE, PATIENT,SUPPORTING... BUT ALL CHANGED WHEN ONE OF OUR CLASSMATES LAID THEIR EYES ON HIM, AND TRIED TO MAKE PAPYRUS LIKE HIM... AND PAPYRUS FOLLOWED HIM EAGERLY, ASTONISHED BY HIS WAY OF LIFE, IN ADORATION IN FRONT OF HIS 'FABULOUS' MENTALITY... HE HAD CHANGED SO MUCH..." "And that makes ya real sad, right?" Edge looked up, locking gazes with Red, who somewhat calmed down. Edge looked down, lacing his fingers together. "..." "...*sigh* Come here." Red beckoned him over, opening his arms. Edge considered for a moment, before hugging his brother back. They were sharing a moment there, but it was interrupted by loud knocking at the door. Red groaned, his anger returning. "Who the fuck is there?" There was no answers, making him sigh loudly, before standing up, crossing the living room to the door, and opening it. There, was standing another skeleton.

"...YOU...YOU SEE? I TRIED TO BE POLITE..." "...What the hell do ya want?" "...TO APOLOGISE..." Red narrowed his eyes at the taller skeleton, before turning back to his brother, leaving the door open. "I'm not the one ya should apologise ta." Red sat back on the couch, next to his brother, who looked at the ground. Papyrus stood awkwardly at the entrance, before closing the door behind him and softly making his way to the brothers. He didn't dare sitting down, wringing his hands nervously. "...I...I AM SORRY... FOR THE WAY I ACTED TOWARD YOU,RED. BUT..." He faced Edge, but couldn't look him in the eyes. "I AM DEEPLY SORRY EDGE. I HAD BEEN AN IDIOT WITH YOU... I...I THOUGHT THAT IF I ACTED LIKE HIM, I COULD BE JUST AS COOL AS YOU ARE... BUT... I HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT AN ARROGANT, STUPID, MEAN AND HEARTLESS JERK. NOT ONLY TO YOU, WHOM I VALUED A LOT, BUT ALSO TO MY BROTHER..." Papyrus was shaking softly, small orange tears in the eyes. "I...I NOTICED THAT MY BROTHER WASN'T... FEELING OKAY. I ASKED HIM SOME ADVICES, AND...HE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD BE INDIFFERENT TO WHAT WAS GOING ON. THAT I SHOULD PUSH MY BROTHER TO TALK TO ME BY HIMSELF BY ACTING LIKE THIS..." "That's fucking stupid. From that him and from ya. Didn't ya see how much ya were hurting yer brother? Ya know what? I'm pretty sure he thought that ya didn't care enough about him ta see that was going, especially knowing that both me and my bro noticed it, but not ya. How do ya think it affected him?" "I...I DIDN'T WANT TO... I-I'M S-SO SORRY!!" Papyrus broke into tears, unable to retain them anymore. Red pinched his nasal bone, while Edge sighed in apparent annoyance, but Red saw it through: Edge was happy. Papyrus understood that trying to be someone else wasn't a solution, for him and for the others, and Edge was glad that the Papyrus he knew was back. Red patted his brother's shoulder, before going to his room, leaving somme needed privacy to the two skeletons. He laid down on his bed, curling into his favourite blanket. He diridcted his gaze to the ceiling, thinking. He dearly hoped this was a great step to help Sans.

Hello everyone! Yes, I'm still alive! I wanted to apologise for my absence on this story. I had a lot of things going on lately, so I couldn't work properly on it. I hope this chapter was decent enough, I had a satisfying idea for the begining, but the end is so-so... I hope it's not that bad still! I wish you all a great day/evening/night!!
