Chapter 8

Maya blushed as she sat in the cafe next to her home. The boy sat next to her grinned cheekily at her crimson face.
"You don't have to be afraid about introducing me to your dad. Don't worry be calm, if he likes me then that's fine and if he doesn't... Well we can go from there."

"Toby" Maya groaned. "You don't understand what he's like. He'll rip you to shreds!"
"Literally?" Toby laughed
Maya sighed "metaphorically. You know what I meant"
"Please Maya. We've been together a month. You can trust me."
She looked into his dark brown eyes. They reminded her of milk chocolate. How could she not trust someone who had chocolate coloured eyes!
"Okay. But if he kills you, I warned you!"

She walked hand in hand with Toby, next door to 221b. She pulled out the silver key to let her in the first door and gave it to Toby.
"Could you open that quickly, I need to check I picked up my phone."
Toby inserted the key in the lock and clicked it open while Maya searched her bag and quickly realised she'd left her phone on the table in 'Speedy's'.
"2 seconds, wait there."
She jogged back to the cafe and grabbed her phone off the table. She clicked the button and looked at the screen. Nothing. No messages.

As she left she pulled the door closed behind her but before she could pull it fully closed, a piece of cloth cut across her mouth, preventing her from yelling out in shock. Instead she wriggled and hit, trying to get free. Just before a need was jammed into her neck, she saw Toby turn to see what the commotion was and begin to run toward her. She didn't know what happened next - she was knocked unconscious...
