❏- Chapter Twenty-Nine
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳ Konkuk

Days went painfully slowly this time... maybe time does fly slowly when you're missing someone huh?

And it's not only about confessing to Yeji that makes him nervous, also the fact that he's going to tell his mom about what he did already.

He made sure to ask her beforehand when she's gonna be free, just to be sure that they won't be unnecessarily cut off and disturbed again.

Once the clock striked eight in the evening... sitting straight up on his desk with his laptop in front of him, he called his mom.

"Hello, mom," Soobin said, starting their conversation.

A smile is what she returned to him.

Wow, it's the first time he's seeing his mom again after quite some time. Even in her sleeping clothes and bared face ─ no one can deny the elegance and beauty that she has.

I miss you, mom.

The small voice inside his head said. He strongly wants to but he just bit his lips to stop those words from coming out. Afraid to be hurt if she didn't say it back.

"Is that a piercing I'm seeing?" she pointed a finger, eyes squinting, which made him hold his ears to hide it.

"Mom," he sighed. Why does his mom notices everything? "This is not what's important. I need to tell you something."

"I'll let that go this time," she said, crossing her arms over her chest as she waits for him to talk.

Here goes nothing...

"Mom, about that application form you sent..." he started, still hesitating whether he should continue.

She nodded, shifting on her seat. "What about it? You already filled it up?"

He drew in a long breath. "No... I'm sorry mom, but I don't want to..."

Her expression closed up at that. "Can you repeat that?"

"Mom," he took in a deep breath again before continuing. "I said, I-I don't want to... I don't want to study in the States. I just... I just want to stay in Seoul."

She stopped for a moment. Her eyes were boring into him, her lips were pressed in a hard line. "And what do you wanna do huh? You're still pushing to retake your CSAT? You want to embarrass us even more? Is that it?"

Soobin quickly shook his head, shutting his eyes at her words.

"No, mom," he uttered, opening his eyes. "I-I'm not going to retake because uhm I... I submitted an application form to Konkuk University in Seoul."

There... he finally said it.

His mom's eyes widened, her mouth fell open as she tries to take in his words.

"Choi Soobin! You did just what?!" she asked angrily, her nose was flaring.

Oh, God! If his mom was this angry, he couldn't imagine his dad's reaction. He'll be a dead meat for sure!

"I'm sorry, mom... I really am. I know it's not right to do things without telling y─"

"Then why did you do it?! For Christ's sake, Soobin! You're not thinking! What would your father say?!" she cut him off. He could clearly see a vein pulsing on her neck.

"Mom," he looked at her with a defeat look on his face, as if to say to listen to him just this once. "I know how he'll react... that's why I decided to tell you first."
