The barn door swung open as the AT-TE marched out out.
A defensive circle of troopers, AT-RTs, and the armoured carts formed around the tank.
I stood next to the turret as the AT-TE marched down the trench road.
I crouched down to stay stable.
Rain came up behind me, and held my shoulder for stability.
I looked back a bit.
Me: Rain... Thanks for letting me talk to you.
Rain: No need to thank me. You let me vent a little bit.
Me: Hey! That's what friends do! Well, if we are that...
I didn't get a response.
Me: Rain... Are you sure you don't want to try to run? You can go live in peace, explore the galaxy! I'm sure many could find use for your talents.
Rain: Why would I want to run?
Me: So you can be happy.
She paused.
Rain: I... Like the sound of that... But I wouldn't go through with it. Like I said, I'm devoted to the Empire.
Me: Well... When we get back, I'm breaking you out of our building and taking you sightseeing.
Rain: Sounds like a forced date.
Me: Take it as an early honeymoon.
She blanked.
Me: Too weird?
She pat my shoulder.
Rain: I appreciate the sentiment. You know, for a depressed guy, you seem to be pretty happy.
After a while, Jaycen called from below.
Jaycen: Hey Fenrir! Do you know any medical skills?
Me: Not at all! Why!?
Jaycen: Just asking! Okay Hanna, your officially team medic.
Colter: Ha!
I smiled under my helmet.
Me: You know Rain, I'm really starting to warm up to them.
Rain: That's good. Synergy always works on a team.
Me: Man, your just full of good advice, ain't ya?
Maxim: Were approaching the battlefield! Get ready!
I looked at Rain and nodded.
We slid off the AT-TE and went to the front of the formation, where Raze stood.
Raze: Fenrir. It's about time you showed up.
Me: Well, better late than never.
I pulled out my E-11 and got ready to fight.
Raze ignited his lightsaber and raised it up.
The first shots came at us as we crossed the trenches.
Maxim fired the AT-TEs main cannon at the enemy line.
Jaycen: WERE HOLDING UP!!!
Hanna: Yeah! But for how long!?
Colter: As long as we can!
The AT-TE took some hits, but didn't budge.
Soon enough, we started approaching a ruined and damaged wood house.
Me: Echo Squad! With me!
I ran to the broken house and my team followed me.
We took cover behind it.
