Lena's POV
I was in my office later than usual, filling out endless piles of paperwork when I got a call.
I saw the name that popped up and grinned but it faltered as I was met with shouts at the other end.
'Lena Danvers you better have a good reason for tiring yourself and our baby out today otherwise we're going to have a serious issue!' Kara scolded me and I rolled my eyes even though she couldn't see them.
'Kara honey I'm a CEO I have paperwork to fill out. Do you really think I want to be here instead of at home with you?' I placed my hands on the top of my stomach that had grown immensely. This baby clearly had some sort of super strength as the kicks and cramps I got from it were painful to say the least. When I first found out I was pregnant, I was shocked. I didn't even think Kara could get me pregnant and I certainly hadn't been sleeping with anyone else. But when I asked Alex about it in secrecy before I told Kara, she assured me I should indeed believe the test. Alex had said that Kara's genes had somehow allowed her to impregnate me, the biological aspect of it all astounded me and most of the DEO agents who examined me. It also astounded Kara. She was over the moon before she actually started to think logically about how it could've happened. Her exact reaction was as follows:
'Oh my rao. You're kidding right? Oh my. Ahh we're going to be mothers. I'm going to be a mum. Kids. I've always wanted kids this is so huge. I can't believe it. I can't believe it!' At that point her smile had turned into a confused expression. 'I really can't believe it. How did this happen?' She then got slightly teary.'Did you sleep with a man?'
I had them replied instantly,'God no Kara. I would never do that to you. Also I'm fully gay if you don't remember. And Alex told me the biology behind it all and even I don't understand it fully.'
She had thought for a minute, decided what I had said was logical and proceeded to bounce around the house for the rest of the evening saying 'we're having a baby!' as if I would ever forget.
'You're right.' She continues our phone call. 'Hold on a sec.'
I heard a few whooshes in the background then I heard a landing on my balcony. I turned my chair in the direction of my wife and beamed at her as she walked over to me. She kissed me softly on the lips and then the forehead before saying quietly,' Hey beautiful wife of mine. Sorry for shouting at you.'
'Hey to you too. It's fine. I would shout at me too.'
'How's my little superhero today?' She asked smiling hugely at my baby bump and dipping down to its level.
'Not as lively as yesterday thank god.' I recalled the past days worth of painful kicking I had gotten throughout the 24 hours.
'Hmm good. Keep Mommy happy.' She said to my stomach causing me to chuckle. 'Cause if she's happy then I'm happy.' She looked up at me and stood back up. 'You know next time I can carry a baby. What with your work and stuff.'
My heart fluttered at the fact that she was already thinking of more kids.
'You're forgetting that you have work too. 2 types of work. And you can't protect the city when pregnant. Well you probably could but I wouldn't let you. And what happens when Kara and supergirl get pregnant at the same time? Won't that spark some kind of suspicion?' I reasoned with her.
She sighed,'You're right as always. I just don't want you to have to go through the pain of my genes in your belly again.'
'Hey,' I said putting the hands that were originally in hers gently on the sides of her face. 'I love having your genes in my body. As much as they hurt like heck sometimes, it'll all be worth it when he or she comes out.'
'Gosh I can't wait' she said bringing her face towards mine for a small kiss. 'Now come on let's go home'
I completely forgot about the unfinished paperwork as I let my wife fly me back to our apartment. We had dinner (takeout as always). I had started to eat as much as Kara, not for my appetite but the baby's. Out orders were starting to look like a meal for 6 not 2 and a half. When the delivery men came to our door and only saw us, they were shocked and a little bit judgemental. We didn't care though.
We watched a movie after, a Disney one as it was Kara's turn to choose. I could feel myself start to drift to sleep so excused myself to bed.
As I was falling in and out of sleep before properly falling, I heard Kara turn off the tv and climb into bed next to me. She cuddled up and whispered an 'I love you' in my ear to which I happily returned in a sleepy voice.
