Platforms...Again
Okay, now we will be talking about writing platforms. Yay! More like software but whatever...
Now there are plenty of places you can do your writing for free. Somewhere you can pay, and other ways around using technology at all. Like on a piece of paper!
Spending -
I am not going to do research to show you places that you can spend money and get good platforms. Why do that when there are thousands of blogs at your fingertips who can help you make that decision?
I personally have spent money on Scrivener. It has changed the game for me and I write all of my serious work on there. Is it going to be published? Scrivener. It offers multiple avenues for organization, planning, and writing. It has a full-screen mode and if you take advantage of the backdrop feature, so you can have an aesthetic you made for your story in the background to keep you in the writing mood.
But it's a $45 investment (last time I checked) and if you're a young writer/just broke like me, then $45 investments aren't in your price range. And that's totally fine. You don't need to be making big purchases in order to write.
You can buy a writing software or you can get on free platforms.
Free -
One of the main easy free platforms to use is right here on Wattpad. You can write plenty of good stories and get loads of readers from it. Beautiful investment and turn around, you don't have to spend. They even have publishing opportunities and such.
Then there are other platforms like A03 which is more so for Fanfiction, like Fanfiction.net or whatever else. There are platforms like Inkitt which also have publishing opportunities. Just follow rules and guidelines, sign up, and start writing today! (and more sale pitch yadda yadda)
But in all seriousness, you can write in Google Docs. There are plenty of famous writers who write there, or in a notebook/pen and paper style. Hell, you can even use a typewriter. though they are becoming popular fast, so I would say get to it before it's more money than self-publishing your novel. LOL
I digress. Doing your research and watching short reviews could prove to be all you need to make a worthy investment or just making a choice in general. But be careful because once you get sucked into the review vacuum it's hard to find your way out.
Remember, think about what you need in a software. Complete blank page where no extra buttons can distract you, amazing organization? Somewhere you can pants your whole novel from beginning to end? Or somewhere that just is smooth and appealing to look at?
Whatever it is...it's out there. Keep your head up and eyes peeled. Your writing software is waiting for you.
