Girl On The Football Team

Chapter 3

Carter's POV-

The bell rang indicating the end of the last class. Mason, Chase, Cody, and I had the last class together. We all had brought our football duffels to our class before this class. So, all we had to grab our bags and go to the field. And that's what we did. We grabbed our football duffel and rushed to the field.

We reached the field and saw the others on the field stretching or going into the locker rooms to change. "I'm going to change." I said pointing to the girls, locker room. I pulled my workout clothes on and put my bag in one of the lockers. I pulled my hair into a bun so it would leave my face alone and exited the locker room. I saw the boys exit their locker room as well. We walked onto the field and started stretching and saw coach walk onto the field.

Coach. Tanner was the coach of football. He was also a close friend of my dad's and had helped me practice football and had encouraged me to try out for the team. I waved at Coach. Tanner and he gave me a small smile. "Everyone assemble in one line please." He shouted so everyone could hear. "I'm Coach. Tanner the coach for football and your captain is Kael Anderson." Coach announced. "Hi! I'm Kael and I'm your captain this year. I'm 17 and I'm the wide receiver on the team. And I see that we have a girl trying out. But I'm going to give you a chance because why not." Kael said. I smiled at him. "Now can everyone introduce themselves?" he asked.

They started from the left "Austin, Bryce, Zach, Ryder, Robin." The idiots have arrived! Everyone's head turned towards me and a few started snickering. "I said that out, loud didn't I?" I asked Chase who was standing next to me. he nodded. I sighed and listened to them continue the intros. "Cody, Chase, Mason, Carter." I said my name. Kael nodded and told us to run laps. The four of us ran together of course. "Kael seems fine." Cody said. "Yeah."

Once we had finished around ten laps Kael called us back and we did our catching and did a few run-throughs of plays.

"That will be all for the try-outs. The selection list with the positions you will be playing will be put up tomorrow." Kael announced. We nodded and coach said "You may leave now. Carter could you come here for a moment please?" "Yes coach." I said and walked toward coach after telling the other three to wait for me.

Once I reached him, he said "Carter I'm really glad you took my advice about joining the team. And don't tell the others but you are by far one of the best players trying out. Also, I'm coming over for dinner tonight remember?" I nodded happily, because as I said before Coach. Tanner was my family friend and all of us adored him.

"Ok Ezra. See you later." I said with a wave. I walked back towards my brother and friends and we started walking towards the parking lot. "What did Ezra want?" Chase asked. "He reminded me that he is coming over for dinner later and that I was one of the best players trying-out." I replied whispering the last part.
