Remy Temperton was a well liked enough boy. He ran a 24 hour cafe in the more popular part of the kingdom, and thus knew a lot of people. Aside from being a bit gossipy, he was a nice person. The cafe was more popular in the day time, as cafe's often are, and was mostly populated by night owls and college students from the hours of ten to eight. The nightlife of the kingdom however, was anything but dead. The streets were still fairly busy and events like early morning concerts were far from uncommon. One of these late night concerts was one of the reasons Virgil and Janus were currently making their way to the cafe. The two of them and covered up in hooded cloaks and tried to stay as out of sight as possible. This part always made Virgil the most nervous. They were still mostly in the outfits that the public eye had seen them in, and if someone saw them, they would be screwed. Sure, there was always a chance he could be recognized after they had changed, in fact it had almost happened before. However the darkness provides some cover, and the changes in their appearance mostly left people wandering why they looked so familiar. Virgil clutched his cloak closer to him as they made their way down the street. Soon enough, they found themselves outside the cafe. The little bell above the door rang out, and a figure at the counter snapped their head up. "Kiddos! You made it!" Virgil gave a soft smile. This was Patton, one of their best friends. He was a cheerful guy, always ready to make a new friend. He had messy blonde curls and round, gold rimmed glasses. He looked like sunshine as a person. "Oh don't worry the coast is clear. Come on in the back, remy and Logan are waiting for us." The boys removed their cloaks and made their way to the back room. The back of the cafe was really a residential area which Remy had made into his apartment. Said boy was sitting on the counter of his kitchen area, sipping an iced and caffeinated beverage. "Virgil, Janus! Hey babes, ready to have fun tonight?" "Hell yeah, this band is one of my favorites." Remy hopped off the counter and handed the two of them a drink. "Drink up bitches, we're gonna need extra energy. This party's going all night." "As long as we're home before our parents notice." "Of course, of course." As intense as Remy could be, Virgil really liked him. He was one of the few people Virgil felt he could trust, even if he was a loud coffee addict. Janus had made his way over to where a another boy sat on the couch. Logan Hawking was the other member of their little friend group. He was currently telling Janus about his day at the book store as he cleaned his black, square framed glasses. Virgil smiles at that, and turned to the others. "How was the shop today guys?" "Oh it was alright, I saw a lady walking her dog!" Patton said, pulling out his phone to show Virgil a picture. "That's great Pat." Patton smiles and nodded. "Well we should probably get a move on, the concert starts pretty soon!" Logan stood, putting his glasses back on. "I agree, we don't want to miss the festivities." Logan, Patton, and Remy began to grab bags and put on shoes while Virgil and Janus their way into separate rooms to change. This was always one of the best parts of getting to spend time with these people. He could finally look like himself. Virgil careful removed the contacts he wore to hide his heterochromia while in the castle. He changed out of his uncomfortable formal wear and into a band tee shirt, black ripped jeans, and pair of purple converse. Much better. He dug around in his bag a bit and replaced his foundation for a paler shade, hiding his faint freckles. Patton said they looked cute. Virgil said that was the worst thing about them. He also outlined his eyes with eyeliner and put in stud earrings. He took a step back to look at himself. If he had been at home, his mother would have never let him dress like this. He always felt not only uncomfortable in the way he was made to dress and act, but equally uncomfortable showing his true style because of it. But here, in the darkness where no one knew or would know his name? He finally felt like he could be himself. Virgil smiled, shrugged on his hoodie, and went out to meet the others.

"So Virgil, how did it go with that prince who's visiting?" Logan asked as they were waiting on the others to finish up. "Oh that guy? Uh he's alright I guess." "You guess?" "I don't really get to know the guy, you know? It's all planned out. He seems a lot like the rest of the ones I've met." "Is he hot?" Remy asked, popping his head into the room. "Virgil scratched his neck. "Yeah I mean he's pretty attractive. It's just a lot having to meet random strangers. Especially when you're expected to fall in love with them." Remy gave him a light pat on the back. "Well you don't have to think about that for the moment babe, we're just gonna have fun!" Virgil laughed. "Yeah alright." Patton and Janus returned a few minutes later, and the group set off. A few hours to unwind was exactly what Virgil needed.
