Ultrasonic, Slightly Psychotic

When they open their eyes, Jay's memories supply them with a location. The walls are familiar reinforced glass, the control panel outside showing the chamber is occupied and the shadows beyond the glass all have their arms folded. Even the ultrasonic bracelets around her wrists are familiar and Jay is smiling in their shared consciousness.

Hel pushes them up to sitting, taking in the situation, using Jay's memories to catalogue the space. Jay enjoys it, pleased when Hel realizes what the bracelets will do to their mind. She remembers how they got here, the searing, debilitation that comes when those pulses ratchet through their psyche. Hel is enraged, pushing them up to their feet and stalking over to the edge of the glass room. Jay just laughs mockingly at her, eyes feverish with a mad sort of delight.

Of course, Loki and the Avengers can see none of this exchange.

"Cowards," Hel snarls at them, bony fist banging hard into the glass. "Fools!" she shrieks, hair moving around her in unseen waves. "Any attempt to interrogate or torture me will hurt your precious little girl as well."

No one answers her, which only makes Hel more angry. Loki watches her move, particularly her face. They have all come to realize that Hel cannot control her eyes or face well when Jaycee is fighting her with all of her strength. There is the flicker from green to grey when Jace gets momentary control. And there is also the pearlescent sheen when they are acting as one, the most terrifying of the three options. Right now, as he watches very closely, the right eye flashes grey and then back to green. It's an instant, less than a heartbeat, but it's enough to give both him and the Avengers the resolve for what they must do next. Even in just one night of being unconscious in a cell, her injuries have partly healed, the gaping bones reknitting together, a clear indication, if there was any doubt, that she is indeed a goddess.

They agreed upon it, with misgivings, guilt and regret, but nonetheless, they agreed. Before they try to rebalance the soul in front of them by going on some mad quest after Victoria Strong, Warren Biochemical or Sigyn herself, they will try to split Hel from Jay.

Unfortunately, they may also break her mind just as easily. But as Loki so astutely pointed out, it is already broken, a cocktail of both Hel and Jay that may prove to be inseparable. It's a vain hope that is spurring this move.

Thru years of pain and torture as Tyr's experiment, Jaycee has a tolerance for pain that Hel, while a goddess, will not be used to experiencing. If they send an ultrasonic pulse screaming thru her body, it will be Jaycee that recovers first, not Hel. While Hel may be the dominant personality, this will give them enough time to ask Jaycee if there is another way to get her out of Hel. Of course, the obvious problem is that this is Jay's body in front of them, no matter how mangled it appears. And, truth be told, they are a little frightened of what Jay is becoming the longer she and Hel battle for dominance.

But the time for careful consideration is over as Hel grabs ahold of Jay's telekinesis and uses it to buckle one of the supports of her cell.

It is Barton that has offered to do the dirty work and he holds back his hesitation and embraces the spy he was. He uses the control panel to activate the ultrasonic bracelets on her wrists.

The reaction is instantaneous. Unable to grasp how painful it would be from Jay's memories, Hel loses control of their body. She goes down with a graceless thud, adding insult to injury as her head slams into the floor. Steve unconsciously takes a step forward, even though he can't reach her through the cell walls, one of which already looks slightly precarious from Hel's telekinetic attack.

Then she is using her arms to push herself up to sitting, a dazed look in her eyes. Eyes which are riverstone grey.

"Jaycee?" Barton uses the speaker system to carry his voice since her ears will be ringing. She scans the room for him, her face a bit slack, like she no longer knows how to control it. She looks at each of the Avengers in turn, looking at Loki quickly and then away. "What's going on, kiddo?"
