it was a hot summer day in derry, maine. y/n and her family had just moved there and her mother was begging her to make friends.

"but mom, all the girls here are stuck up bitches who only care about themselves (not beverly though)", y/n whined
"young lady, i do not tolerate this type of language in my household. and who said it had to be a girl", her mom teased
"okay i'm sorry for the bad language, and gross", she said

"enough of this, go to the pharmacy and get your dad's medication", she instructed
y/n followed her moms orders and skated to the pharmacy.

y/n's dad had been diagnosed with cancer a few months back but was lucky enough to get cured. however he needed medication to help. they moved to derry to get a new start and get rid of the old memories. (don't take this the wrong way, cancer is a very serious thing)

y/n got her dad's medication and on her way back she accidently ran into a boy and he dropped a bunch of pills.
"i'm sorry", she said, still not looking at him and helping him pick them up.
"i- it's alright", he stuttered
she looked up and him and realized how cute he looked. he wore a fanny pack, with an inhaler sticking out of it, a yellow shirt and had the most adorable face.

"i'm e-eddie, i haven't seen you around, are you new to this town?"
"i'm y/n and yes i am, i just moved here", she said as he blushed
"well i gotta go my moms going to kill me if i'm late"
"okay bye eddie", she said as she walked away.

"WAIT", he stopped her, "my friends and i are going to the quarry tommorow, you can come if you like?"
"i'll be there eddie spaghetti", she laughed as he blushed at the nickname
"bye y/n!", bye eddie!"
she said as she skated away.

she had finally reached home and she had a smile that was practically tattooed on her face.

"what's got you so happy?", y/n's mother asked suspiciously
"i- i ran into a boy", she said as she blushed
"i remember when i got my first boyfriend", her mother teased
"he's just a friend", y/n assured
"a friend that you can't get off your mind", her mom smiled and walked away.

no matter how hard y/n tried to get eddie out of her mind. he just kept coming back. maybe her mother was right, maybe she does like him.
