i began the ritual once the sun set, singing as the moon rose high overhead. I sang the song of Calling. And on and on it echoed, over the waves and sea, over the land of hills and trees; on and on it echoed. The  sound of the song of slid through the air like a serpent of mist, and likewise slithered into the thoughts of a sleeping man, his face young and fair, the song twisting through his dreams and thoughts, tangling amongst his inner self. His eyes snap open, for a second they stare unblinking in the direction of the sea, and the trap is set. he rises and dresses, leaving his home. and then he is gone. the trap snaps shut. On he wanders, on and on; towards the alluring pull of the melodic song.

He comes. every fiber of my tortured being tells me so. He will come, and he will not go. His last moments are upon him.

I look upward and see his face, beautiful and shining in the glinting light of the reflected moon. He walks forward on and on, and deeper i lure him with every moment. he follows my song, note after note and he loves it. How could he not? He didn't start to fight it until the water rushed over the top of his head. He struggles and thrashes but he can not stop his feet from walking deeper, walking closer to my dark embrace.

I look past him, into the shadows of the unlighted water behind him. and There he is. Morrigan. Saving the worthless man he calls his son. My blood turns cold as Morrigans gnarled hands grasp his sons shuddering shoulders and wrench the song away. The trap is broken. The song turns to piercing notes of rage as i lunge at Morrigan, his son forgotten. I will drag Morrigan into the depths once again. But once my clawing fingers are inches from brushing his exposed throat, he disappears. I am alone in the shadows, Morrigans son welcoming the safety of the land. The moment is lost, the song is lost. I must wait for the next moon to start the song again. Morrigan will not win.

I begin to prepare once again, for the Deadly Song. This time, he will be mine.
