Chapter 48

Chaeyoung can't sleep. She had a lot running through her mind.

She grabbed her phone and called her mom to check their situation.

"Mom how are things there?" She asked plainly.

"All well dear. Jinhee will be discharged tomorrow. Lina already settled everything. When are you going back? She mentioned about your loan in their company when I asked her how you managed to pay for everything. I plan to work dear once everything is well an.."

Chaeyoung interrupted to cut her mom's words and said, "Let's talk about that later mom. Just focus on Jinhee right now. Did Lina mention something else?"

She had to be careful with her words since her phone was still wire tapped. Jungkook did not have it removed to avoid suspicion at Lina's side.

"Nothing except that she kept asking if we need anything. Why? Is there something wrong dear?" Her mom asked with a worried tone.

"Nothing mom, it's just that I can't contact her today. Anyways, just don't think too much. I have a great job in here so don't worry okay. I have to go now. I love you. Kiss Jinhee for me. Bye." Chaeyoung said and hung up the phone.

It was her 5th day already in the island and still no call from Lina. She wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing.

She felt her head was spinning around once more. Although she wanted to place everything and all her trusts to Jungkook, the truth is, she was still playing safe.

Though she was following her heart for now but her mind was still leveling to jam her feelings.

One thing was very clear with her, there's nothing or no one who can replace her love for her family.

Her mom, dad and Jinhee were very important to her.

Then she thought about Jungkook, he had a very special spot in her heart.

'Chaeyoung being wise was your best shot in your current situation.' Her mind was shouting at her.

'Chaeyoung, if you stick with your plan, you will hurt Jungkook and I am sure you will also get hurt since your starting to fall for him, whether you admit it or not!' Chaeyoung's heart was shouting at her.

It was a battle between her logical thinking and her emotional heart.

Then there's so many what ifs to consider...

"Ahhhhh" Chaeyoung hissed as she strangled her hair like a crazy person.

The battle between her head and heart was interrupted by the sudden opening of the door.

It was Jungkook who she felt laid beside her. Then his arm was wrapped on her.

"Did you drink? You smell of alcohol." Chaeyoung asked.

"Yup, just enough to help me get sleep. Why are you still awake? Are you waiting for me?" Jungkook asked while he buried his face on Chaeyoung's neck.

"My head and heart were in battle so I can't sleep yet." Chaeyoung said in openness.

Jungkook chuckled and said, "So tell me who won in the end?"

Chaeyoung's forehead creased, "There's no winner yet because it was a tough battle. Even the judge was having a hard time deciding since both were giving their best to win."

"Why doesn't the judge just declare a truce since it's hard or let another judge handle it?" Jungkook said frowning. He was referring to himself as the other judge.

"And what would be the decision of that other judge?" Chaeyoung asked. She was so curious to know what Jungkook would do if he was in her position.

"Marry the owner of that head and heart." Jungkook said in a serious voice.

Chaeyoung froze. She wanted to turn around and face Jungkook but she was hesitating.

'What was that? Is he proposing right now? He doesn't believe in marriage right? So why would he propose marriage?' she thought silently while her heart started to thump fast and her body began to tense.

'Did I just hear it wrong? Maybe I just heard wrong.' Chaeyoung continued to ask at the back of her head.

There's just silence. No one uttered a word for a minute, it was just pure silence.

Then she heard Jungkook spoke once more, "Park Chaeyoung, let's get married."
