"Cass, Cassie." I heard a faint voice by my ear."Cassiopeia Astrid Anderson. Wake up. I made your favorite breakfast. Bacon and eggs." The voice became a little louder.
I opened my eyes, blinded by the sunlight coming from the window. I rubbed my eyes and attempted to look at who was beside me but I struggled, since I wasn't fully awake. A shadow was coming closer to me. "Come on, wake up Cassie. The food will be cold by the time you go down." A guy's voice? It sounds familiar though.
Finally awake fully, I successfully looked at him. Oh it's just Cayden. He was wearing his favorite black hoodie and pants. "Going somewhere?" I asked "Yeah, just gonna help your dad with some things. I know you're tired from school so just stay here for now." he smiled at me.
"Now go down or else your breakfast will be cold." he said before leaving the room.
I washed up and just simply went downstairs. I saw my mom washing the dishes, she noticed me getting utensils. "Baby, how's sleep? Now that your exams are done you can relax" she grinned.
"I feel like it was the best sleep I've ever had, ever since I was born." we both giggled as I continued to get the utensils.
"Okay now we gotta go, bye honey. Bye princess" My dad told us before leaving the house with Cayden. "Take care daddy, you too Cayden." I waved goodbye.
I kinda just stayed at my room for the whole day. I'm currently getting food from the pantry since I'm getting so hungry now.
Cayden and dad are also not yet home I wonder what they're doing.
While going down I heard something...
I heard my mom sobbing in a room where the bed sheets and other things are.
"Mom?" I called out. "What's wrong" my voice sounding like a whisper.
"B-b-baby, the ho-hospital just c-called, he s-said d-dad and Cayden got into a car a-a-accident. They arrived d-d-death on arrival" my mom said while her tears run down her cheeks.
My eyes got blurry from the tears forming. Dad. Cayden. Why? Why did you leave us? My legs were becoming weak making me drop down to my knees. My heart was aching. I never thought this day will come too soon. "DAD! CAYDEN! WHY?" these were the only words I remember saying, before I blacked out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Baby?" I woke up by my mom beside me, concerned. "Your scream was heard from downstairs. Having a bad dream? You can tell me about it." she said while her hand stroking my back.
I looked at her in the eyes, making the tears I held back fall. She pulled me into a hug, my chin resting on her shoulder. I continued to cry, remembering the dream still makes my heart ache. I can't get it out of my head.
"Mom," I started the conversation between us. "Mom, why? Why did they need to leave us so early?" I pulled away from her hug and focused on her eyes. Her eyes were getting teary just like me, she's just trying to hold it back. "I know, I know it's hard. It's been 3 years since they left us, but, dad will be proud of us if we stand up strong Cassie." she forced a smile. "It's gonna be okay." she told me while a tear ran down her cheeks.
"Go wash up, you'll be late for school." she told me before leaving me alone in the room. I walked going to the bathroom,I stared at my reflection on the mirror. "Yeah Cassie, you better stand up strong. It'll make dad and even Cayden proud. I miss you guys so much. I love you dad. I love you Cayden." I stated to myself.
