Chapter5 Just a regular day

Kaitlin started her day off as she normally would by lazily getting out of the bed at 10 am and going downstairs to be greeted by no one.
Kaitlin's parents are never home, once a week they stop by to drop off money.
"Morwin kawte" a tired Emma walked in the kitchen rubbing her eyes.
"Hi baby, how'd ya sleep?" Kaitlin's voice always seemed happier when she was around the twins.
Kaitlin basically raises the twins by herself, with 250 dollars a week from her parents to pay for groceries and school lunches leaving nothing left for Kaitlin.
"Katie, I hummy" two year old Jacob waddled into the kitchen smiling.
"Ok" Kaitlin's smiled picking Jacob up and setting him in his blue dinosaur high chair and Emma in her pink butterfly one.
"What do you guys want to eat?" Kaitlin asked already knowing the answer
"PANCAKES SHAPED LIKE ELEPHANTS!!!!!" The pair screamed at the top of their lungs.
Kaitlin nodded as she began making the pancake batter.
"Katie, can we have some orage juice?" Emma asked,her voice hushed while Jacob glared at her.
"No! Milky!" Jacob shouted and Emma began shouting back.
"Guys!" Kaitlin shouted for the first time in forever and both of the similar faces snapped in her direction.
"Jacob can have milk and Emma you can have orange juice, ok?"
The twins nodded taking the hint to stop fighting as Kaitlin handed them their drinks.
Kaitlin pored the batter into the elephant shaped pan and yawned.

A unfamiliar chiming noise went off and Kaitlin looked around confused.
"Kawtie it's the doowbell" Jacob shouted giggling.
Kaitlin nodded and walked to the old door opening it slightly,unused to having visitors.
Her eyes looked over the boy and she rubbed them to see if she was seeing clearly.
"Lucas?" Kaitlin's voice was back to a whisper.
"Hello kaitlin, I was just stopping by to see how you were after yesterday's.....events" the boy seemed unsure of how to word it.
"Can I come in?" Kaitlin then blushed embarrassed by how she left him just standing there.
"Ofcorse"
Kaitlin was then again embarrassed by the house she calls a home.
She leads the boy she thinks of as perfect through her messy home and to the living room
"Make yourself comforatable"
He did as he was told and plopped down on the messy couch.
"KATIE THE ENEPHANTS ARE DYING!" Emma's voice shouts causing Kaitlin to jump up.
Kaitlin's thin legs Carried her quickly through the living room, over the coffee table and into the kitchen leaving the confused boy impressed.
Kaitlin looked to see the Elephants burning and she quickly threw the black pancak on a plate.
"The elephant is dead" Jacob started crying and Kaitlin picked him up into her arms soothing him causing Emma to cry out in jealousy and the fact that 'Elly' died.
Emma's crying soon stopped and Kaitlin turned to see her being rocked in the arms of Lucas that she was previously in yesterday.
Kaitlin showed him a smile of appreciation but to her it was more a smile in admiration. When the twins stopped babbling the teens set them down as they ran off to play.
"thanks, you didn't have to do that though, I'm used to it" Kaitlin tucked a piece of hair behind her ear looking up at the over generous boy.
"It's alright, are they yours?" Lucas asked unsure of himself. Kaitlin's eyes bugged out of her sockets and she gasped.
"No! Their my siblings" Kaitlin giggled.
"Oh" Lucas blushed making him 100times cuter in Kaitlin's eyes.
"Well just making sure, you know girls these days" Lucas finished, his face still flushed pink.
"Well I'm not like that" Kaitlin defended slightly offended.
"Oh, I know, I was just saying that- some girls- ya know, at 16 they sometimes...um.... can we just start over?" Lucas scratched the back of his neck and furrowed his eyebrows.
Kaitlin giggled and nodded turning pink herself.
"Can I help you, so the elephants don't die again?" The boy asked and Kaitlin fake glared at him, regretting it shortly after, she's not used to being so outgoing.
"I would love if you helped me save the elephants"
