It was two o'clock in the morning - and Chaol was still driving. 'Do you even know where we're going?' she piped up suddenly.

They were all exhausted - partly from Dorian's prattling (Rowan had made the mistake of asking him what book the latter was reading) and mainly Celaena's terrible singing.

Chaol growled, 'I'm following the SatNav.'

A rustle, then-

Chaol swerved violently, jerking the car onto the neighbouring lane. 'What was that for?' he snapped.

Rowan had shoved the map in front of Chaol's face - blinding his sight for a moment. 'SatNavs,' Rowan muttered, 'just like every other piece of technology - are shit. What's wrong with paper maps?'

Dorian had been abruptly woken from his snoring as he slammed against the seat belt. 'Where are we?'

'On the road.'

'No shit, Sherlock,' Dorian sighed.

Celaena suddenly gave a shout. 'Service!'

Everyone groaned. Rowan didn't dare reprimand his girlfriend, but Chaol growled, 'No. We. Are. Not. Stopping.'

Celaena pouted. 'I don't need to pee this time - I'm hungry. None of you idiots brought enough food. Would you rather listen to me whinge?'

Chaol didn't need telling twice. Celaena smirked, folded her arms smugly and leaned back in her seat.

'How long does it take to buy a sandwich? She SAID she was only getting a sandwich.'

'Dude, I swear that girl has a larger appetite than all three of us combined.'

'Is she taking a dump?'

Just then, the door swung open. 'Buzzard,' Celaena jerked her head, 'Get in the front. I need the space.'

Celaena toed Rowan out of his seat - and a mountain of snacks replaced it (the majority being chocolate). 'Seriously?' Dorian asked, raising a brow.

'Yes, seriously.' Celaena rolled her eyes, and wriggled into her seat. 'Oh - and Dorian, I got these for you.' A pile of books tumbled into his lap. 'It's a new series - you remember acowothorserosis?'

'What?' He said, extremely bewildered. 'A cow?'

'A Court of Thorns and Roses,' Chaol sighed from the front.

'Yes,' Celaena said impatiently, 'that series. This is Crescent City by the same author Sarah J Marhs.'

'M. A. A. S. Pronounced Mass,' Chaol corrected sharply again.

Celaena snorted. 'Whatever.'

Dorian was already within the book.

Chaol tapped the steering wheel. 'Are we all good to go?'

When no one replied, he said, 'Brilliant.'
