My Competition

We CONTROL it

"Mr. Control Vasquez, as the top student of this class and the whole grade 12, you will represent again the school in the upcoming division wide super quiz bowl that will happen next month. I know that you are always ready for it." Mrs. Evangeline Amador speaks to her student sitting next to the window and looking up in the sky..

"Yes Maam, I will. Thank you for the trust." Replied  by Control who seems not been surprised with the announcement because for the past six years of his stay in their school. He is always the one who competes in every academic competition that their school wants to join to. He is also the one to be sent if there is Editorial Writing Competition and in sports he is the one to be sent in chess. So, today announcement is not new to him.

Control Vasquez, 18 year old guy living in the province of Nueva Ecija, town of Talavera, and the only boy in the 3 offspring of Mr. Rolly Vasquez, owner of one pf the tutorial schools in their town and Mrs. Connie Vasquez, a public high school teacher. His two siblings are Cherry 15 years old and Candice 10 years old. Control is an achiever since he started schooling and a consistent participant of his school in any competition.

"That's all for today, Goodbye class." Mrs. Amador ended the class session.

"Goodbye Maam!" replied by the whole class.

"Mr. Vasquez, don't forget what I've told to you." Mrs. Amador calls the attention of Control who still looking outside the classroom.

Control nodded. 

From nowhere someone tap Control's shoulder by a notebook.

"Oh! My friend, how to be like you." a repetitive line from someone who tap Control's shoulder, and that is Andrei his childhood best friend. Control just replied with a smirk. "Hey Andrei, you cannot be like Control let's just connect and play mobile legends." shouted by Justine, also one of the closest friend of Control. "But Justine, I am just giving the spotlight to Control, If I became serious in my study. I thought Control will just be a second placer". Andrei boasting himself to Justine. " But remember Andrei, for the past 12 years you did not even get closed to the grade of Control, I am wondering how can he be friend with you?" Justine replied with the intention to tease Andrei. "Hey, Justine you are getting to my nerves. You want a fight?" Andrei seems to get mad by the words of Justine and run towards to other. 

"Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop it. Stop it. You two, Justine and Andrei, why are you always fighting from nonsense things?" Venice holding her breath because he ran to stop her friends to make a fight. "Maybe???" Venice continue. "Maybe what? Ha Venice?" Andrei turns his face to his lady friend and seems puzzled to what his friend uttered. "Never mind Andrei, uhmm by the way it's already 12 noon lets just eat our lunch now. Okay?" Venice changes the topic because she was afraid to the facial expression of Andrei.

"Ah, Lets go. I am also starving." Justine replied who still standing in the door. "Eat yourself!" Andrei shouted to Justine and seems still mad to his friend. Justine just look at him with a teasing look. "I said enough, you are like a child, My God!" Venice cuts the heating argument again. "Let's just go to the canteen, the line should be as long as hell right now." Venice continue. "Fine." Andrei answered. "I'm waiting." Justine uttered. "Control, want to join? Let's go." Venice calls the attention of their friend who still looking outside the classroom and seems did not pay attention to the fighting Andrei and Justine.

"Okay, I'll go with you" Control answered and stand from where he was sitting and the four of them went to the canteen.

"Mrs. Amador did you already find someone that will compete for the upcoming super quiz bowl for grade 12 next month?" Asked by the School Principal Mr. Jack Uy to the teacher. "Yes sir, it's done. We all know we have the best grade 12 student in the town. Don't be afraid we will win again." Mrs. Amador with full of confidence and conviction knowing that they have Control in their side. "Good. Mrs. Amador, but still help control for the review process. He can not do it alone." Mr. Uy advise Mrs. Amador what to do. " Aye, Aye Sir." replied by Mrs. Amador with big smile on her face. "By the way we will have our faculty meeting this afternoon. I want you to end your class at 3pm" The school principal gives order to the faculty. "Yes Sir!" they replied.

Meanwhile, in the cafeteria, as the gang expecting the line is too long so they decided to move out of the campus to take a lunch.

"Oh!!! The line is too long." Andrei uttered.."It is all your fault. If you two did not make a child fight a while ago, I think at this moment we are now eating our lunch."Venice speak out with a bit of embarrassment. "Again?" Andrei turns to Venice with a mad face. "You want me to repeat it?" Venice answered frankly. " Stop it! We are in the public place." Control stops the argument.  "I think we will just waste our time if we wait for our turn. I think we should eat off campus." Justine seems to have a better idea now. "I'm in". Control answered. "Me too, lets go" Venice grabbed Justine's hand. "Andrei?" Control ask his best friend. "Do I have any choice?" Andrei answered with no emotion. "You have!" Justine said while walking. "What did you say Justine?"  Andrei seems became pissed off again. " I said enough stop fighting with little things." Control continues to loosen up his friend. "Okay fine" answered by Justine while Andrei did not speak at all and they went off the campus.

"Shift! Where are you going?" asked by one of Shift's friends, Daniel. " To the comfort room, I will just pee!" answered by the guy who is 5'9 in height, 18 year old, grade 12 student, from neighboring campus of the first group of students. Shift Villegas, is the only son of the Business Tycoon Mr. Christian Villegas, and Doctor Shiela Villegas, they are both well known as an achiever since they were students. "Shift, wait for me, I want to also." Samuel runs towards Shift who did not even stop for a bit and continues to walk.

"Where do we eat?" Andrei asked the gang. "In the plate." Justine continues to tease Andrei. "Am I asking you?" Andrei lean towards Justine. "Am I talking to you?" Justine put his face near the face of Andrei. "Control, lets go there in the stall and leave this two." Venice grab the arm of Control and walk towards the food stall. "Okay!" Control walks with Venice. " Hey! don't leave us!" Justine run towards Control and Venice who seems pissed off to the two. Andrei just follow them. 

"What do we eat?" Venice ask the group. "I want Pork Sinigang with two rices." Andrei aswered first. "Me, I want any full vegetable food plus one rice." Justine replied. "Vegetables? What kind of food?" Andrei speaks up about Justine's choice of food. "Am I asking for your opinion?" Justine face Andrei and make face. Andrei just moved away his face and seems pissed off. "How about you Control?" Venice asked Control who seems daydreaming again and looking far away. "Anything." Control answered with a shock. "Ah okay! I will get your order." Venice stood up and walks towards the store Justine joins her. "Oh! Venice, I will join you."

Andrei keep an eye to Control and did not control himself and ask his best friend. "Hey, Control!" Andrei asked. "Yes, What?" Control replied to Andrei. "I notice something weird to you. It started in the classroom until now." Andrei seems puzzled on how his best friend behaving today. "What it is?" Control replied with a smile. "It seems you thinks to deep a while ago. Are you daydreaming or what?" Andrei continue to grilled his friend. "Nothing, I just did not sleep well last night." Control answer. "I know you Control, I know you, don't lie to me." Andrei seems not contented with Control's answer. "I said nothing. Wait, I just want to go to the C.R" Control stood up and make a way towards the comfort room. "Hey Andrei, what did you do? Where the hell is Control going?" Venice raised her voice and seems angry to Andrei. " Don't make me the bad person here. Control will just go to the CR." Andrei answered with a bit of embarrassment. "I'm sorry." Venice replied.

"Hey Pards, are you joining the School Elimination for the Division Super Quiz Bowl?" Samuel tapped Shift's shoulder. " Do I have any choice?" Shift washing his face. "Eventhough I will not want to join the elimination. They will force me to join it with no excuses. So what will I do?" Shift continue. "Hay!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shift why don't you tell parents?" Samuel wants to continue his line but Shift cut it. "Tell what? That I am not good enough? Do you think they will understand it?" Shift looks at his friend with poker face. "Oh! Never mind, lets go back to Daniel, I am sure he is so bored now." Samuel moves toward the door. "Okay! just a bit you go first." Shift answers while tangling his bracelet. "Okay I will wait you to the table." Samuel leave the comfort room.

While Shift is fixing his hair, he heard a familiar voice saying his name.
