PART FIVE
Tweety shook inside as they all stood in the meadow, waiting for it to darken. She’d always been taught that as soon as the light goes, you go. This is when all of the monsters came. This is when her death could happen—and if she died, she’d respawn as someone else, forgetting everything and everyone in this life.
“You know, I think I forgot…that thing! Yeah, and I’ll have to go get it.” Tweety suddenly began, trying to make up an excuse.
Pika let out a snort. “It’ll take a lot more than that lame excuse to go back inside. Try again once you’re, like, missing a leg or something.”
Lola playfully nudged her with the hilt of her iron sword. “Don’t make her more scared than she already is. Remember your first time out here with me? It was kind of hilarious, actually.” She smirked at Pika, whose already red cheeks seemed to blush.
“What happened?” Tweety asked.
“Do you mind if I tell her?” Lola asked Pika, and with a slight nod from her, Lola began. “Okay, so I’d just recently met Pika. If you didn’t know, we met when I stumbled across a village that Pika had accidentally caught on fire. Instant friends from there. But anyway, she had been living in that village for a while and hadn’t even come near a monster before. I invited her to go hunting, and apparently she thought I meant killing cows and stuff. She showed up when it was close to dark and ran inside the house, but I dragged her back out and explained what I meant. She stayed behind me—and here’s the funny part: this skeleton came close to us and started shooting, and it charged us. Pika panicked and dug herself a hole in the gravel about three blocks deep and jumped in. The next moment, she’d put the gravel back on the top so she’d cave herself in and suffocated herself. It was pretty funny, actually, after I’d saved her.”
Pika let out an embarrassed laugh. “Well the sun’s down. We better get ready for ’em.”
Tweety suddenly felt a surge of anxiety pass through her as she studied her surroundings. She suddenly spotted a spider a few blocks away from her sister, whom was fighting off a creeper. “LOLA!” she shrieked. “THERE’S A SPIDER!” This made Lola jump and the creeper exploded, killing the spider with it and demolishing a few blocks.
“Jeez, Tweety! I know what I’m doing. You focus on you—speaking of which, there’s a zombie close behind you.” Lola said and went back to tracking down monsters.
Tweety jerked backwards and jumped back, seeing a zombie right in front of her. “What do I do?” she screamed as she ran backwards.
“Hit it!” Pika yelled back.
She took the sword in her hand and lightly jabbed at the monster, closing her eyes and hoping that it would kill the zombie.
