Chapter 0: An unexpected visitor

9 months earlier...

"OKAY OKAY YOU WON! NOW GET YOUR FAT ASS OFF ME!" Elias yelled as I chuckled and did as he said.

It was sixth period and my best friend Elias Karlsson and I were in defence class practicing our 1 on 1 combat skills. The entire class was split into pairs who were spread out in the large school gymnasium as they sparred each other, the thud of bodies slamming onto the padded floor and groans echoing through the hall.

Welcome to Ravenwood Academy.On the outside world, this is one of the best boarding schools in the country. Only the best of the best manage to get into Ravenwood and to this day, nobody knows how they select their students. What they don't know is that this school also doubles as a school for assassins. To the public, Ravenwood Academy nurtures the future's brightest minds when in reality, it creates the future's bloodiest hands.

If any people are causing problems that the government can't see or deal with, we end the problem.

Permanently.

While we were sparring each other, the teacher walked around, observing all our forms and giving everyone feedback.

"Great work as always Miss Grayson. Mr Karlsson, The force in your offensive blows is good but try to be a little lighter on your feet. Your strength and speed need to be more balanced to effectively take down your opponent,"

"Yes Ms Jacobs," Elias grumbled as she turned around and walked towards another pair whilst he pulled faces at her retreating figure.

"Better luck next time loser." I said with a laugh as the asshole on the floor groaned loudly.

"Well I wasn't ready that time so it doesn't count!"

"Really? Okay what about the other 5 times I beat you? Were you not ready all those times too?" I retort with a raised brow.

"Just shut up Gigi." he glared at me playfully, a mischievous glint in his green eyes. That couldn't possibly mean anything good. He stood up and  brushed himself off before turning to face me.

I slowly started backing away from him and for every step back I took, he took another towards me, the grin on his face only growing wider.

"Take one more step towards me and I'll break-"

The next thing you know, he had swept me off my feet and threw my body over his shoulder before spinning around as fast as he could. All the bodies surrounding us became a blur as we spun faster and faster. His shoulder that was jabbing into my stomach was slightly uncomfortable but the adrenaline and serotonin rushing through my body made the discomfort, as well as any irritation I had towards him, negligible.

"ELI STOP! PUT ME DOWN! PLEASE, IM GETTING DIZZY!" I screamed between fits of laughter but he just kept spinning whilst laughing along with me.

"NEVER!" He shouted back.

He kept spinning me round, my hair falling out of it's loose bun and flying around and it whipped right into his face. This distracted him long enough to make him lose his footing and he tumbled to the floor, taking me down with him. I closed my eyes, bracing for impact, but instead of landing on the padded ground, I landed on a body which let out a soft grunt.

We looked each other in the eye before bursting out laughing again. By this point, the whole class had stopped sparring and was staring at us in amusement, but Ms Jacobs looked less impressed by our antics, though the humorous look in her eyes said otherwise.

"Gianna and Elias, stop messing around in my lesson and get back to work. The rest of you do the same please." she announced before blowing a whistle and everyone got back to work. She gave us a small smirk before sauntering off to go assist another pair.
