Jane goes into the conference room with all she needed to conduct the meeting. She had earlier arranged bottle water in front of every seat. It was five minutes to two and she hadn't told anyone that Nma wouldn't be at the meeting and she would be the one in charge today. There were three people in the room and she was already feeling nervous. If it were based on qualification she wouldn't be in this room, she only tags along because she is Nma's assistant and if anything needed to be attended to during the meeting she would be the one go get it done. All she has ever done is take minutes and notes for her boss now she is the one to handle the whole meeting today. "What kind of stupid ladder climbing is this" she asked herself.
At exactly 2pm the conference room was filled with employees, which of course where waiting for Nma to walk in but it didn't happen that way. Jane puts out her phone to record quietly as Nma had instructed her to and took the floor. "Good day everyone, thank you for being here. So there has been a slight change on today's meeting, Miss Gerinma won't be joining us today as she has something really important to attend to I will be the one to take the meeting in here stead." Mumbling sounds filled the room but this didn't discourage Jane "Before any of you start to feel insulted as to why she would let me take the floor, I beg that you should table the matter to her yourself because I wouldn't be able to answer that" The mumbling reduced but didn't stop completely. "Pls let's say a word of prayer before be proceed.... Dear God as we are gathered here today to achieve an aim I ask that in your name our time here will not be a waste and that you bless every soul seated here Lord in the name of God the father, the son and of the holy spirit". The whole room echoed an Amen in unison. "So shall we begin?" She didn't even wait for anyone to nod their head before she proceeded, Regina her office padi was just sitting at the far end of the room smiling. "Our major concern here is the issue of advertisement. The last location with had put our Ad on a billboard didn't generate more clients, so now what do we do?" Jane presented this particular problem on a slide as they all diagnosed a solution. Mr Kunle, head of the advertising team wasn't comfortable with any of these as he felt attacked for not doing his job well. If it were Nma handling the meeting it would have been very much normal as she attacks everyone, but coming from an ordinary office assistant! That was like a slap to his lacking ego. The meeting ran for about 2hours.
Eventually, they all decided on going with a television Ad on a station that have lot of viewers, in place of running two billboard Ads. Mr Kunle also promised to pull in some favours and get them a discounted price to run their Ad on some radio station if there would be anything left after they run the Tv Ad. With that, other pressing matters were also taken care of which brought the meeting to a close. Another word of prayer was said and the whole room dismissed, Jane being a people's person sensed the Mr Kunle's pride had being wounded during the meeting so she called him to a corner to talk to him "Sorry about the whole thing, this was just dumped in my lap few minutes before the meeting so there was no way I could have discussed it with you earlier. Pls try to understand that I was just doing my job" It was obvious that the man didn't want to be standing with her and talking like she has not already done a number on his pride. Generally, Mr Kunle's has never being a nice person and not one to make chitchat with anyone. "If you want to apologize, which you definitely should. Go ahead and do it already and stop with a these solidarity talk and get straight to the point." Jane wasn't surprised at his tone, the man is really living up to the rumours. "Mr Kunle I know I am the cause of your anger and I am sorry for igniting the fire, but then if you did your job well there wouldn't be a need for this apology and you shouldn't speak to any woman in such manner." Mr Kunle was already half way out of the room huffing and puffing when Jane stopped him "One more thing Sir, hate doesn't get you anywhere" with that she walked right out to see Regina waiting for her in front.
Regina was about going on, on how well she handled the meeting like a Professional before Mr Kunle walked right out and slightly brushed his shoulders against Jane's without even turning back to apologise. "Ahhhahhhn! What is that about?" Regina asked with her mouth slightly opened. "Don't even mind that man, the amount of hate he has in him ehhhn! I wonder how he can still walk" Regina laughs silly before catching a breath "Someone that his wife left with five kids, no tell me who wouldn't have such hate? He is basically carrying all of Nigerias hate on his head. The two women on his team has suffered, treating them like they are nothing. But do you know the funny thing? After all his gragra he is still in a woman's employ"
