Chapter Twelve § The mission (Pt. 2)

At midnight, just as Jungkook had requested, Taehyung was given the fullest extent of preparation that could be given in such a short amount of time. At the strike of twelve a.m., he appeared in the main hallway, holding Jungkook's gun, with Jiyeon following closely behind. 

Taehyung smiled shyly as Jungkook stared at him with wide eyes, his cheeks tinting pink with embarrassment when the mafia whistled lowly. 

"Damn, petal. That suits you so well..." 

Taehyung wasn't entirely sure what exactly Jungkook was referring to, but either way, it still embarrassed him. He quickly moved closer to his fiancé, moving close enough to the other male so that Taehyung could nuzzle his face into the crook of Jungkook's neck, giving a soft peck there as a greeting before closing his eyes, humming softly as the younger's arms wrapped gently around him. 

"I think I'm ready, kook... What else do I have to do before we leave?" 

He listened as Jungkook chuckled softly, and then the pair pulled away from each other. Jungkook took the sniper rifle Taehyung had slung over his shoulder, and set it against the wall before grabbing a black bulletproof vest, holding it in front of Taehyung. 

"Hoodie off, baby. You have to wear this." 

Taehyung obeyed, taking off the pull-over hoodie, and letting Jungkook put the vest on him, adjusting the straps and whatnot. After that, he put the hoodie back on, and waited patiently as the younger placed a small thing in his ear that looked similar to a hearing-aid. 

"This thing-"

Jungkook lightly tapped the ear piece-

"-Is a comm device. We all will be wearing one. There is a location chip in it, and that will help us plan your escape route. You are to tell us everything you see, and let us know what is going on. You, as the sniper, will have a full view of the entire area we will be waiting in. And this-" 

Jungkook placed a lens in front of the scope on the sniper, and then pressed a button on the side of it-

"-When you look through the scope, it will be in night vision with this special lens over it. It will allow you to see in the dark, so you can have better aim and range. For this job, you need to be completely calm the entire time. You cannot, under any circumstances, think of or do anything that could jeopardize your life, our lives, or this mission. Can you do that, petal?"

Taehyung stared into Jungkook's dark eyes, feeling everything around him disappear as he stared into his lover's soul. 

"I can handle this, kook. I know you're concerned not only for me, but for everyone else here, but I promise you, I won't fuck this up. I'm doing this to help you, so I would never do anything that could upset you, especially when this whole mission is stressing you out." 

It was brief, but for a moment, Jungkook smiled at Taehyung, fingers brushing his cheek just as they had done a million times before.
