Chapter Twenty Six - I Do
Eight months later.
My mom positions the veil on top of my head before stepping away teary eyed. I smile up at her and take her hand to give it a reassuring squeeze. She chuckles as she swipes a traitorous tear before cupping my face. I close my eyes and savor the moment when she hugs me to her and kisses my head.
"Sei bellissima mia cara." She whispers before pulling away. [You look beautiful my dear]
"Grazie mamma. Ti amo." I peck her cheek as I try to reign in my emotions. [Thank you mama. I love you.]
"Ti amo." She smiles as she caresses my face.
Today is the day of my wedding with Roman. We've flown out to Italy to host it in Tuscany as we fell in love with the venue. Initially me and Roman were set on having it in the US but we also looked at venue options in Italy. We had decided to go for the castle overlooking the vast countryside and vineyards. It has its own church too which is a bonus.
"Ready?" Dad pops in and his eyes widen before he too tears up at the sight of me.
I laugh as I stand and make my way over to him. My brothers and sisters-in-laws enter the room and I greet them all happily. Everyone becomes slightly emotional but thankfully Romeo makes a comment about him needing to get married before he gets grey hair which makes us all laugh. I certainly would have ruined my makeup otherwise.
Marissa and Madelyn fawn over my dress and the girls giggle excitedly as they run their hands over the material of the skirt. I'm wearing a stunning white dress with a silk skirt and layers of tulle over it. The bodice is made from a translucent material with balloon sleeves. Beautiful floral details are embroidered everywhere on the gown with white thread and beads. It looks delicate yet elegant and I knew it was the one ever since I first laid eyes on it.
My bridesmaids, Hailey, Dakota, Briar and Cleo step inside and squeal excitedly once they see me. I chuckle happily as they join in on the chatter about the day ahead. Although Hailey was sad that I won't be joining her in Canada she understood and we keep in touch regularly as always. We had gone out to dinner the day she landed and spent the entire evening catching up and reminiscing about our college days. I've become quite close with Dakota, Briar and Cleo too over the past few months and we're almost inseparable by now. They're all wearing blush toned dresses but I let them decide what style they wanted.
I thank everyone for the compliments before Alessandro glances at his watch and states that it's time. Everyone files out before me and my dad have a sweet moment like I did with my mother. I almost break down and cry when I hear his shaky voice as he remembers some memories of when I was young, realizing how fast I grew up.
