Wendy

I slowly open my eyes to the blinding light shining in from my balcony windows. I sit up in my bed pushing my satin blankets off of my legs. 'Why must I get up so early?'' I think to myself. I hear my door open, "good morning your majesty, I've set out your dress for the day. And once you're finished your mother and father need to speak with you in the dining hall." My maid Cornelia says. "Thank you Cornelia." I give her a warm smile; that she returns.

I get dressed in a elegant yet simple floor length purple gown with lace sleeves. I put on some silver flats and make my way out down towards the dining hall. I find my two younger brother's John and Michael running in the hall. "Wendy! Wendy!" Little Michael shouts. "Hello munchkin how did you sleep?" I ask while ruffling his hair. "Oh I slept great! I dreamt of going on adventures with Peter Pan and fighting pirates!" He said enthusiastically. "Well that's wonderful, did you beat them?" I ask, grinning. "Wendy of course I did, alongside Peter we beat them good." He said giving me a toothy grin. I look up to my other brother John, "did you have nice dreams John?" I ask. "Of course, thanks to your stories Wendy." John said. "You will tell us another tonight right Wendy?" Michael asked tugging on my dress. "Oh of course Michael! I will always tell you stories of Peter Pan, but I'm afraid I have to go boys. Mother and Father need to speak with me." I say goodbye to them both and make my way down to the dining hall.

The guards open the grand doors of the dining hall as I walk in seeing both of my parents. "Good morning Mother, Father." I greet them smiling. "Hello my dear, did you sleep well?" My mother asked. "Oh I slept fantastic. I had the most beautiful dream." I say, biting my lip. "Oh? And what was it about Wendy?" My father asked. "Peter Pan and how he brought me to his wonderful home called Neverland! We had so much fun adventures and he was so sweet... So loving." I said feeling a small blush creep on my cheeks. "See my love, I told you this was absolutely crucial." My father whispered sharply to my mother. "I'm sorry, but what's so crucial?" I ask. My mother gives me a sad look while my father's is as hard as stone, "you are to stop telling these silly stories to your brother's. They are filling your and their heads with complete nonsense!" He snaps at me.

I take a small step back, shocked because my father has never spoken to me like this. "But father they aren't nons-" "Wendy enough! You are to stop telling these fake stories! Enough of this Peter Pan he is not real!" He shouts. Tears leak out of my eyes and down my cheeks, "of course he is real father, you just don't believe like I do!" I state. "I said Enough!!" He yells. I immediately close my mouth. "It is time for you to grow up and take on more responsibilities and focus on your duties Wendy." He says in a softer tone. He reaches towards my cheek to brush away the tears, but I pick up my dress and run out of the room. I run up the flights of stairs until I get to my bedroom and lock the door. The tears are streaming down my face as I kick off my shoes and walk towards the doors to my balcony. I pull them open and sit down on the bench and rest my head the railing. "I believe in you Peter Pan no matter what my parents say, I'll always believe in you." I whisper as I drift off into a daydream state.

But what Wendy didn't notice was the shadow that loomed over the roof peering down at her.
