(Wedding dress in picture)
Wendy
Its been one day. Twenty four hours since Baelfire was taken. John, Michael, and I never stop thinking on how he sacrificed himself for us. We've been planning a way to try and lure the shadow back so we can find Baelfire, but nothing has worked. The shadow hasn't come, and neither has Bae. "Wendy... Wendy!" My mother says waving her hand in front of my face, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Oh sorry, what were you saying mother?" I ask. "I was saying how we need to start doing your make up. We don't have all the time in the world sweetheart." She says smiling.
'Oh right... For my wedding.' I think to myself, "right of course, sorry mother." I say, she then sits me down in a chair in front of a large mirror. A few ladies rush in the room and start working on my make up. A few of them start working on my hair after they've finished with my face. "Oh honey you look stunning! Derek is a very lucky man!" She gushes. I look in the mirror, staring at a girl who's smile doesn't reach her eyes, and dimples don't indent on her cheeks. Her blue eyes aren't sparkling with that familiar glow as she realizes her life is about to change in less then thirty minutes; that girl is me.
I stand outside of the two large double doors that lead out into the courtyard leading to my soon to be husband. I inwardly shudder at the thought. Husband... Such an unfamiliar word to me. And it should stay that way until I'm in my mid twenties. But sadly I don't control my own life. "My little girl, you look so beautiful." I pick up my wedding dress and turn around to see my father in his kingly attire. "I can't believe you are getting married." He says grabbing both of my small hands in his large ones. "Neither can I." I whisper. "Sir... Its time." One of the guards say. I gulp and my heartbeat picks up. "Well let's go sweetheart. Its time for your happy ending." He smiles. 'This is not how I want my happy ending.'
My father stands to my side with our arms linked. The doors open as the music starts playing. We start slowly walking down the aisle as my dress trails behind me. I glance around the garden and see all of the people standing, I don't even recognize anyone here. I see my mother in the front row standing next to John and Michael and Derek's father. My mother and Derek's father are smiling while John and Michael are giving me sad smiles. I look at them and give them a soft nod. I look away and notice we are standing in front of Derek. My father pulls me in for a tight hug, "I love you Wendy." He says. My eyes start clouding up with tears on the verge of spilling over. "I love you father." I say barely above a whisper. He then hands me off to Derek, my hands now in his as I stand in front of him. My father walks towards my already crying mother.
I look at Derek's face as he smiles brightly, and all I can give him is a small smile with tears now spilling over my cheeks. "We are gathered here today to join two people in holy matrimony. We were brought these two beautiful people; Prince Derek and Princess Wendy, to fall in love. Love... Love is the powerful gift that brought these two together. If anyone opposes this marriage then speak now or forever hold your piece." The priest says. 'I oppose this marriage, I oppose this a lot!' I think to myself. No one in the crowd speaks, the priest grabs a crown and places it on my head then puts a crown on Derek's head. "Well then Prince Derek do you take Princess Wendy as your wife? Do you promise to love and cherish her for the rest of your life?" Derek looks in my eyes, smiling he says "I do." 'Oh no please no.', "Princess Wendy do you take Prince Derek as your husband? Do you promise to love and cherish him for the rest of your life?" The priest asks. Tears stream down my face and Derek lifts his hand to brush them away. 'No sparks. Nothing'.
