Wendy

Its been three years, and now I'm sixteen years old. Things have changed... Drastically, my parents forced me to stop telling John and Michael stories. And instead they have me focused on my duties for a Princess becoming a Queen, which I'm not prepared for at all. My siblings and I are still very close, but my parents and I... Are not what we used to be. I walk into the dining hall just as I hear a clatter of a plate falling to the floor. I look up and see a boy eating bread from our bowl. "I- I'm sorry, I'm just so h- hungry please don't tell!" He says. "Hey hey its alright, I won't tell." I say. "Come with me." I grab his hand and sneak him up into my room.

He sits on my bed looking around the room, "I'm sorry I didn't catch your name." I say. "My name is Baelfire, but you can call me Bae." He says. "I'm Princess Wendy Darling, but please call me Wendy." I say. "So why were you all alone scavenging for food?" I ask him. "Oh well my parents they... Died and I have nowhere else to go." He says sadly. "I am so sorry Bae, but don't worry you are going to stay here and be a part of my family now." I smile. "Really?" He asks. "Of course I'm not just going to abandon you and let you die on the streets." I say. He somewhat flinched on the word abandon but I chose to ignore it.

"Now Bae wait here I want you to meet a couple of people." I say. I run out of my room and quietly shut the door and go to my brothers room. I knock on the door, "John, Michael open up." The door opens and there stands John. "Wendy what are you doing?" He asks. "Follow me." I say. "Michael come on." I hear John say. They both follow me out into the hallway and back to my room. I open the door and see Bae sitting on my bed just how he was before. "John, Michael meet Bae; Bae meet my brother's John and Michael." I say. "Hello, nice to meet you." John says. Bae smiles and nods at the two boys. I lead Bae to my closet that I filled with blankets and pillows. "I think this should be big enough for you to sleep in." I say. "Its perfect Wendy, thank you." He hugs me, as I hug him back. "Of course Bae." I smile as we pull away. "Wendy you will have to tell mother and father about this, you know that right?" Michael says. "Yes Michael I know that." I say. "Okay I think its time for bed everyone. John, Michael back to your room." I say kissing their cheeks, they say goodnight to Bae and I as they leave the room. "Your brothers are very kind." Bae says. "I know, they are quite the brothers aren't they?" I say. "Okay time for bed." He says. I help him into the closet, "goodnight Bae." I say. "Goodnight Wendy." He smiles.

I shut the closet door and I hear him immediately fall asleep, which shows how exhausted he actually is. I hear a soft knock on my bedroom door and open it to reveal Cornelia. "Your majesty, your parents need to speak with you." She says. "Alright I'll be down in a minute thank you Cordelia." I say. She leaves, as I walk down the main staircase and see my parents talking to an older man and a boy who might be around my age. "Ah Wendy sweetheart this is King Joseph and his son Prince Derek." My mother says. I curtsey, "its a pleasure to meet you both." I say. "Now Wendy, King Joseph and I have been close friends for a very long time. And they have traveled quite far so that Prince Derek can ask you a very important question." My father explained. "And that question is?.." I say. "Prince Derek wants your hand in marriage!" My mother cheers.

Its like the whole room started spinning once those words left my mothers mouth, I started feeling very lightheaded once I looked down and already saw Derek on his knee presenting a black box with a ring inside of it. "Please e- excuse me for a m- moment." I say before running out of the room and into the dining hall. I start taking deep breaths before I accidentally let out a sob. And that is when the waterworks uncontrollably start. I choke on my sobs trying to keep them quiet, when I hear the door open. I look up and see my mother walking over to me. "Wendy that was not proper at all, what were you thinking?" She scolds me. "Mother I don't care that it wasn't proper, I'm sixteen years old and I was just proposed to by a boy I don't even know and he even looks to young to be married, this is not okay!" I shout. "Honey of course its okay, Prince Derek is twenty one the perfect age to become a husband." She says calmly. "Twenty one? You want me to marry a man five years older than me?!" I shout. "Yes Wendy because he will make a wonderful King when the time comes. And he will be a perfect husband and a great father." She beams at me. "Husband? Father? I will not marry someone I just met! Let alone have his children!" I snap at her appalled. "Sweetheart its what's best for you." "No, no its what's best for you and father. I am supposed to fall in love and find my true love myself! Not be forced to marry a man I don't even know!!" I shout. "Wendy, stop this is final. This is the way these things go. This is how a Princess becomes a Queen. Now get up off the floor, go back out their and apologize, then accept the marriage." She gives me a tight smile, then grabs my hand and leads me back into the foyer.

We walk back over to my father, King Joseph and Prince Derek. "I apologize for my rude behavior, the proposal just took me a bit off guard." I say and force a small smile. "Its alright, this was quite an unexpected event." Prince Derek says. He gets back down on one knee and takes my small hand in his large one. "Princess Wendy Darling of Glendalia will you do the honor of being my wife?" Derek asks. I look at the faces of my mother, and my father and see what I must do in order to keep this kingdom going...

"Yes." I whisper. He slips the ring on my ring finger as my father and King Joseph hug each other, it seems everyone is celebrating except for me... The bride, the one being forced into marriage. "Alright well we need to start planning the wedding right away as it is in two days. But it is late so I think the bride needs to get her beauty sleep." My mother says. "Yes, I suppose you're right, goodnight everyone." I quickly leave the room and fast walk up the stairs leading to my bedroom. I walk in the room and shut the door carefully not to wake Bae. I get out of my dress and into my nightgown, then crawl into bed.

I lean back against my pillows and look at the ring on my left hand. I take it off my finger and put it on my bedside table. I lay down and snuggle under the warm blankets and attempt to dream off and forget today's events. But the last thing I think of when I drift off to sleep was...

Peter Pan take me away to Neverland.

And Wendy hasn't thought of Peter Pan for 3 years... Until now.
