Chapter 9

We arrived at Qinghe and outside the door to the main hall, Meng Yao said 

" These are the newly deployed guards clan leader Nie sent after the Wen clan sent the message."

" Message?" Wei Wuxian asked.

" Childes you might not know, the Wen clan sent a message that each clan must send an inner heir to accept indoctrination or else..."

"Or else what?"

" Or else they will send people to take them."

" This is-"

"But this is nonsense! How can they take people? That's against the rules!" I said.

"But but but but but....inner heir.....that only leaves me! Which means i have to go! This- This can't happen, I'm sure my brother will find a way to stop this, I need to ask my brother-" said Nie Huaisang, panicked.

"What's the racket? Ask me what?" Said Nie Mingjue, leader of the Nie clan.

"N-Nothing." 

"Childe Jiang, Childe Wei, Xichen told me that the two childes of Yunmeng are teenage heroes. Maiden Jiang, I've heard you are proficient in swordsmanship and a lot of other things. You usually travel with your brothers?"

"Yes, clan leader Nie."

"Zhufan, show Maiden Jiang our library."

"Yes, clan leader Nie."

And so Zhufan took me to Nie sect's library, and he took out something that looked like a letter.

"I am clan leader Nie's bodyguard, and he sees me as a friend. I've been with him for several years, including when we were a kid. So in other words, I know your father as well.

"My father...Jiang Fenmian? Of course, everyone knows him" I acted calm on the outside, but in my mind a million questions were popping up. First of all, how would they know that my father wasn't Jiang fenmian?

"Zhao clan's childe is here right now, for some errands, but since you're here, why don't you let him explain some things to you?"

I turned around, and became face to face with the boy that saved me from falling into the lake before we arrived at Gusu. Zhufan left and it was just me and Childe Zhao alone.

"Quning Liu clan Maiden Liu Yachen. Sect leader Jiang, Nie, Lan, and Liu were all very good friends when they were studying at Zhao sect when they were your age. Your loss is very hard on you, but I want to show you some clues that may lead to you finding out why your family was murdered."

"So everyone knows my identity right? Everyone knows but they don't bother to just tell me, and the thing about keeping my identity a secret is just to prevent Wen clan from capturing me, in the meantime helps you guys solve this case!"

"No- Let me explain-"

"You guys just suspect Wen clan, yes they were involved, but my father told my brother everything and since I was eavesdropping, I knew, I've always known the reason for my family's murder and who murdered them!"

"....You knew. But you didn't bother to tell anyone?"

"I DONT TRUST ANYONE!" It was then I realized how much I've let slip out.

"Maiden Jiang..."

"Forget I said anything, I'm sorry. I don't know why I said all that."

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I know how it feels to feel like you're just being used by everyone, and they're using you with the excuse of 'protecting you'. You're right, you do have the right to know everything about your father and your clan. I'll tell you everything I know."

"Thank you so much, also thank you for helping me out at Biling lake."

"I don't know much about Liu clan, but I do know one thing. I'm just not sure you'd want to know."

"Tell me."

"Emmmm I feel like you would hit me after this but take a look at this."

I took the piece of parchment from him. 

Daughter of sect leader Liu, Liu Yachen, Eldest son of sect leader Zhao, Zhao fanyi, I announce you two officially engaged and to be married when you guys graduate from school.

I stared at him. He looked very uneasy and awkward. All that awkwardness was disrupted by Zhufan when he came in.

Guys I am sorry since I wrote the first few chapters when it was during quarantine in 2020 I really don't remember the plotline anymore so I'm just gonna switch it up a little bit. DM me if there's any ideas you'd like me to add into this story. Thank you for reading!
