In Japanese society, the core social unit has always been the family, rather than the individual.

The rain was pouring almost as hard as the tears falling down the little 5-year-old boys grey like eyes.
"Hizashi Hyuga was not only my twin brother but also my closest friend" The tall man with the same grey eyes and long dark brown hair stood in front of the large crowd wearing black surrounding the gravestone. "My brother died protecting me and this family. I will not let his honor go to waste of the sacrifice he had to make for the Hyuga Dynasty."
He looked down at his young nephew that was now holding hands with his eldest daughter Hinata, only a year younger.
"Neji" he said aloud causing the young boy to look up.
"I will treat you as my own and strive to preserve your father's wishes." He looked back up at the crowed "I have decided that Neji Hyuga will be next in line to run the family business when he comes of age."

20 years later- New York City
A young woman with brown hair tied in two buns stood surrounded by darkness, only one spot light on her. She inhales, then exheals with a face full of determination and concentration. She grips on to her traditional Chinese bow and then within seconds she pulls the arrow from her back bag. Shooting several rounds in a blink of an eye surrounded by silence.
"Lights please" she yells.
The darkness around her fades and she can now see all the faces of her 100 students as they watch in awe. She had hit each target on the bullseye all the while being immersed in darkness.
Silence soon turns into a roar of cheers from the young college freshmen sitting in her lecture hall.
The brown-eyed woman smiled at her student's reactions.
"Professor, how did you do that?!" one of the students in the front row asked.
"I said to call me Tenten!" She smiled and continued "I spent my whole life studying and practicing all the arts of ancient Japanese and Chinese weapons with my father. He is from China and my mother was from Japan but I was raised here in the States! Now that was one of my skills I promised to show you all since 100% of you passed the last test. Later this semester we will talk more about how the bow was the most useful and deadliest weapon for Samurais before the change of the Sengoku period around the 14th century. "
Tenten then looked up to see a tall handsome man with long brown hair and light grey eyes leaned against the frame of the lecture hall entrance. He was dressed in a nice suit with the top buttons undone and a small smile that just made her melt every time.
She then focused back on her students "Okay class, let's call it a day but you better read the article I emailed you about primary weapons in Samurai history. This includes how the different weapons were used to mold and change history for each of the six distinct periods from 710 AD to 1870 AD. There might be a quiz on Monday!"
Students made their way out of the several exists until it was only the two of them left.
He just stood up at the top of the stairs watching her.
Tenten walked around to her desk gathering some papers "Neji? Are you going to stay there all day or are you going to buy me a cup of coffee as you promised?"
He then made his way down the long stairs towards her still not saying a word. He noticed how her tan long sleeve blouse tucked into her black pants finished with white booties showed off her fit body well. She looked professional but sporty at the same time.
