This question really stumped me for some reason. When I think of favorite characters for some reason I always picture a guy, and I'm not really sure why because I love female anime characters. But after a lot of thinking, I realized that my favorite female character is actually Mei Ayazuki from Meiji Tokyo Renka.

This anime has easily become one of my favorite anime's so far. Actually, it beat demon slyer for me.

This anime takes place in Tokyo, Japan during the Meiji time period. Mei Ayazuki (The main character) is a very shy and young girl. She was constantly being looked at as the girl who talked to ghosts. She never understood why everyone was so distant and afraid of her. Due to people's fears against her, she became really quiet and distant from the world, she even distanced herself from the spirits that were once her best friends.

Mei was walking home from school one night, and to her surprise, she got invited to dinner by a classmate who thought she as actually pretty interesting. She declined the offer due to her personality. Instead of going to her house, she decided to stop by a carnival the was happening nearby. She was standing at the very back of a huge crowd that was watching a fabulous magician, and much to her surprise she was chosen for a disappearance act. She tried to decline the offer, but the magician wouldn't budge. She stepped on stage and into the disappearing box not expecting much, but when the magician said the magic words, she found herself in the middle of an unfamiliar road. She was confused but stayed calm.

Just a few moments later a carriage was rushing by her when it suddenly stopped. A handsome man stepped out for the cart and greeted young Mei. He offered to give her a ride home, she declined, but after he insisted she finally gave in and decided to accept. As she was entering the carriage she noticed a shy boy sitting in the carriage. The handsome man introduced himself as Oiga Mori, and introduced the boy as Shunso Hishida. After Mori was finished introducing themselves he asked her who she was, but for some reason, Mei couldn't remember her name until a very quiet whisper reminded her.

The men tried to take her home, but she couldn't remember where she lived.

This show revolves around Mei trying to figure out who she is and what kind of person she wants to be. There is a very obvious romance in the show, and unlike some animes, this one ends with a kiss.

Mei Ayazuki is easily my favorite female character. She is so interesting and mysterious, and the fact that she can see and talk to spirits just puts the cherry on top.

I highly recommend this anime to anyone who wants to watch a slice of life romance, with a twist, or honestly to anyone who wants to watch something new.

I'm so sorry I missed the last two days, I'm catching up with my work as we speak. Sayonara!
